Hi guys!

Well it's that time of the year again and for some reason every year people want me to do an Escape Show (and are willing to pay a pretty penny for it). I used to have one of Ian McColl's excellent gimmicked combination locks, but that was long ago, when I bought it from Cannon's escapes. Sadly after many performances of it being dropped off the bag it fell off the stage unto some concrete and was broken.

I'd like to discuss other methods with everyone and see what method people think is the easiest/most practical for me to do. Some methods involve setting the combination for the lock and some don't. Some involve a single dial combination locks and some don't. There are a few methods that are now being sold on the internets as well as some standard methods, along with some ideas of my own.

Wondering if people are interested in discussing this and their thoughts on the various methods I've cooked up, which one would be best, but the last time I did that everyone was offended because escape secrets are more closely guarded than Hillary Clinton's emails.

I guess I could put it up on Secret Sessions but I also think there was backlash for me doing that as well.

Secrets are not meant to discussed on this part of the forum. The various search engines include them in general searches for the world to see. Secret sessions is where they should go. You can start the discussion here and the refer them to the secret sessions area which search engine spiders to not cover.

If you look up Houdini's original method for a bag escape, you will find a couple of gems that you can use. Both take some reasonably good magic skill and both can be done in today's world
Magic is like Science,
Both are fun if you do it right!

Hi
Re: mailbag escape. I used to get the post office to challenge me (in the photo my head is out for PR purposes, in the challenge I am fully squeezed double over and can't breathe well because of the cramped position . It was their bag, their official padlock and the difficulty was very real...
After your in the bag, the bag is cinched up tight and held fast with a friction catch, through this the US Postal lock is secured.

NO FAKE BAR NO FAKE LOCK NO DAMAGING THE BAG

Later I took this challenge on the road and would encourage hardware companies to bring several unopened locks to the venue and allow the audience to choose, again, no tampering with the locks, all legitimate, all real.
I had a bunch of magicians attend various shows and would be surprised that I didn't use a Mailbag bar or combo lock......its a devastating escape....

Yes borrowed lock and bag,,,was always interesting to see a magician or "escape artist" come up after the show and just sure they knew the method until they got to examine everything.....
