I would like to learn how to do the strike second deal and saw this video from Matt Furman on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ1vpRyn0Kt/......magician
Matt does tricks for many celebrities so I'm sure his tutorial is the real work on the second deal. Many of his ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to his newsletter. Does anyone have a review on Matt's tutorials? |

I realize that this response is not directly addressing your question, but once the mechanics of a strike second are understood, the best thing to do is just practice in front of a mirror from various angles until you are comfortable doing it in a relaxed way, and maintain an awareness of line-of-sight considerations. Being relaxed and even-paced is helpful. If you’re dealing from your left hand, try to make sure the the majority of your forearm is resting flush with the table top. One of the biggest tells I notice in poorly done strike seconds is when the magician’s left elbow is either sticking out unnaturally, or tucked in unnaturally in a “guilty” way. Resting your entire forearm on the table prevents these tells if you can do so in a relaxed manner.

What's wrong with moving thumb when dealing seconds?

That deal might pass with Bees, but the Bike white border-corner is locked.

Moving the thumb actually amplifies the illusion.

Jason is not moving his thumb on these seconds. His timing is perfect though. The technique is a strike. Choose what you like and practice practice practice. I prefer the push off second to the strike but to each his own. |

I would question if these people actually work for real people. Matt Furmans Second Deal has been tried and tested by the fire of Justin Timberlake and other such celebrities. I would believe he has the real work on it.

Lol.
Ya that Timberlake has a keen eye for card technique. |

This all sounds like some sort of promotion for mr. Furman, why else would you bring up that you'd like to subscribe to his newsletter. |

I don't understand. Are we not allowed to appreciate the work of our fellow magicians? I saw Matts video and wondered if anyone had seen the tutorial and if it was worth purchasing. That's all. I also wondered if he had a newsletter as I would like to know how to become a celebrity magician like he is also. It sounds like there might be some jealousy creeping in.
Back to the topic, I had purchased Jason Englands video on Second Dealing but it is a studio only performance. Matt performs for real people so I wondered if it might be a better method that's all. |

Vernonscigar, it appears you are already convinced.
I am convinced based on the poor demo to avoid this. Thank you for bring it to our attention. BTW - Jason England has perform under fire at the Magic Castle in front of a live audience (real paying people). I've never heard of Furman. |

There are excellent video's out there from Jack Carpenter, Allan Ackerman, Alex Pandrea, Martin Nash, Jason England, and L & L's "Expert Card Handling" DVD set as well as the published work of Ed Marlo, Dai Vernon, Simon Lovell and many others. Matt Furman may be good, but there is a lot of info out there well worth your consideration. Good Luck!! |

L&L do not have a DVD set called "Expert Card Handling".
Is it listed by any other name? The author's name? |

@ Jerry.
Are you talking about master card technique in world's greatest magic series? That's a very good DVD. |
