Mary Christopher – Mary is the daughter of the local baker. In 1925, at the age of 22, Mary fell in love with a local printer and typesetter. They were to be married on Christmas Day. Tragedy struck when Mary died under mysterious circumstances on the eve of her wedding. Nicholas Belle – Mary’s husband-to-be. Nicholas was a very successful print shop owner. He was planning on expanding his business and starting a family with Mary. Nicholas and Mary both shared a love of all things Christmas. Ester O’Hare – Ester was known to have pined after Nicholas and was furious to have “lost” to Mary. She spread terrible lies about Mary in a jealous campaign of gossip. Col. Julius Pedwar – Julius was a local military officer and grandson of a Welsh lord. Pedwar thought that the beautiful Mary did not deserve anyone besides that of aristocratic blood. Dando Grazie – Grazie was an Italian immigrant and owner of the most popular restaurant in the area. Dando would often sing for Mary when she graced his restaurant and was seen openly weeping when word of her engagement reached him. Officer Jack Laindéir – Jack was the local police chief and another would-be suitor of Mary. After he received his wedding invitation in the morning he nearly beat a suspect into unconsciousness that afternoon. Anne Nouvel – Mademoiselle Nouvel owned the local fashion boutique and wanted to be with Nicholas after she had him make posters for her for the shop window. She refused to supply them with a wedding dress from her store. The Story of Mary Christopher On Christmas Eve 1925, Mary was found in her room – dead. Next to her body was a red Christmas gift box and seven Christmas cards. Also, nearby was a glass of Eggnog that later tested to be tainted with tyramine, a toxic concentrate from the berries of mistletoe. Some speculated that Mary took her own life, devastated by the gossip and harassment of her and Nicholas’s former suitors. Still, others believe she was murdered by a jealous rival or one of her own suitors. Even a Nicholas Belle was briefly a suspect when witnesses claimed to have heard him angered over the town gossip and drama being created by and about the five ex-suitors. It is said Mary still haunts the location of her death and her spirit lingers near the gift box and Christmas cards. She cannot move on until this heinous crime is solved. Her case remained unsolved and the secret may be revealed by Mary with help of the Spirit of Christmas…
