Greetings folks!
I have come to report an...Experiment, I guess I should call it. I made use of the 10S Star Sign Divination, today. Your loyal friend was handling last minute holiday shopping (breaking one of my own commandments) with his Missus, and had been way-laid by a salesperson interested in whether or not we were satisfied with our gas and electric services. Deciding that I would not let this time be wasted, and since this individual decided to try and guess my star sign (she was close,) I decided to take a turn and try to guess theirs. So, I ran through the basic routine, it wasn't perfect as I studied it intensely months ago, and fell into a bit of a blue funk for a while, but it was serviceable. The salesperson seemed duly impressed. I wanted to use the word "flabbergasted" just because I enjoy the word, but that doesn't seem right. So, I'll settle for the phrase "charmed and delighted" which is what my wife recommends, and seems to be her favorite phrase for this sort of thing. Awe and wonder are hard to come by in my neck of the woods. However, I made the mistake of trying my luck at a shopping mall (the fact that I was in a mall should have been my first clue to not do this.) I tried this on two young ladies at a mall piercing shop... And everything that could have gone wrong, did. I made hideous, hideous mistakes, and I'm wondering if friends helping someone in the initial phase might have something to do with it as well. I also learned that I need to work on my palmistry again, but that's less relevant. May the gods of mentalism forgive me for my transgressions. Sacred Chao |

Sir, I'd personally recommend you have a second, backup method, so that you can can recover your dignity in such degrading situations. A humble Swami writer, or perhaps a p**k wallet. If the sign goes wrong, you can go straight into a birthday, a friends name, etc... using a more surefire method. The 10S thing is bound to go wrong some of the time. It may not have even been your fault!
Hail Eris.

Hal Eris tells it like it is. You need an 'out'. You might also want to refer to Corinda and Anneman for ideas.

The cool thing about 10S is that you don't have to invest a lot of time, so when it fails it doesn't seem like a waste of time.
I would recommend squeezing it into another routine. Say you ask someone to write one word to describe themselves and you peek that word. You then ask a few questions to try to see how this person thinks, then give a small reading, try to guess their star sign (you'll hit more often that not) and finish by revealing the word (or get really close, as I like to do it if I nail the sign). That's how I do it most times. |

If your out is solid, easy and undetectable.. I would say you don't need the other method at all...
Especially for star signs, and yes, I've tried plenty of alternative ones...

I would agree with you, if you want to do a star sign divination and have the participant know that you are doing it.
In the case of 10S, I think it should be something extra that you put in a bigger routine. You're not performing a star sign reveal. So your out can simply be "By the way, are you a Leo? No... Oh, ok..." and keep moving. You didn't spend any time trying to figure this out, you just throw it. Quote:
