In Carney's Carneycopia there's an effect called "Soft Glass" (p25) and he uses a coin sleight that he later refers to as a "somersault vanish". It involves balancing a coin on the middle of your index finger but supporting it a bit with your second finger, and then turning your hand inwards to drop the coin.
I'd love to find a video on this or another written description but I haven't been able to find anything. Does this sleight go by a different name? Or does someone have a video or written tutorial? I appreciate any help! |

Sounds about like half of David Roth's Flash Change. See Expert Coin Magic page 104.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Thanks. It's similar though not quite the same thing. Maybe I can adapt it.
Btw, for anyone who has the dvd, the flash change is on Roth's 2nd Expert Coin dvd in the explanation for the Spellbound *routine* (not the sleight). |

Yeah, I think that might be it! If anyone is looking for it on their dvd set, it's on the first dvd, and it's simply called the "drop vanish". Ben verbally gives the name "Milt Kort Drop Vanish" in the explanation though.
Thanks for your help. |

In Milt Kort's Drop Vanish, the coin doesn't tumble or turn over. It's "dropped", after a very small toss in the air, from the first finger into finger palm.

Drop Vanish taught on volume 2 of the Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights, which also teaches over 100 other coin moves, and has been a best seller since the 80s, with more practical and advanced moves than ANY OTHER DVD SERIES. Available as a three volume download for only 35 bucks from Vanishinginc magic.

I bought this set years ago yet still go back routinely for help and pointers. Doc, I just checked out the price of the EofCS first three DVDs and at $35 it's a steal. I hope Santa can add those to my stocking!! |
