So after jamming with Fraser for years on some of this material, I can fully say that this will be a definitive book on some great new frontiers in Fraser's style of mentalism.
We got on recently and Fraser demoed a lot of finally versions of the principles and ideas going into this book. I've been testing them and added a touch or two myself that will be in there and I think you will be gobsmacked by what's inside. More info soon. XX, -Jakob |

Hello-
I was just issued a refund for my pre-order of this book. There was no reason given other than "we are unable to fulfill your request". I have been unsuccessful in reaching AZMENTALISM--- anyone have insight? I was looking forward to this. |

Hey guys,
So here is my review of this wonderful book by Fraser Parker. I got an early proof copy, but mind you, I did pay full price for it, just like I also did for Second Coming and False Messiah. Though I could compare this new work to Fraser's previous work, I believe Fraser as an artist, performer, thinker, has grown from True Mysteries until this. Fans of Fraser will be delighted by this material. Bear in mind, I have performed some of it, and it plays well. So on to the review: What do you get? You will get a well written complete book full of routines that are propless in nature, with Fraser's brilliant thinking. I believe this is his best work yet, and I thought Second Coming was good, this is even better. Foreword by Ross Tayler Ross writes the foreword to the book, spilling his heart out about what he likes about Fraser's work and how him and Fraser have worked on some of the ideas for a long time, until they thought it was perfect, then Fraser added another touch to some of the effects to add closure to everything. Introduction This is how it starts: What you now hold in your hands is a book of real magic, or at least the closest I have ever come towards achieving this in performance within my own work. Fraser then explains the path he took when he got into magic and thoughts about creating, and working with Kenton, and more. Very thought provoking and well thought out introduction. Fraser also explains that to get the most out of the book, he suggests you read it over a few times to ensure you have all the tools in place implanted within your subconscious Effects Single Digit Number Fraser's go to way to divine a single digit number a spectator is merely thinking of. Thoughts: Simplicity, ease of use, propless, and everything appears very natural throughout. Uses an idea by Peter Turner as well. Two-Digit Number Using another release from Peter Turner is the basis for this effect in divining the two digit number, as well as something from Michael Murray. If you are a fan of Michael or Peter, this is worth checking out. Really great stuff. Spectator as Mind Reader(Reverse) Pin If you have False Messiah, the spectator will divine your pin number, but this version is superior to the version in False Messiah. Fraser also prefers this method than the one in When in Rome, My Intuition from Peter Turner. I have performed this a few times, just yesterday I did it again near the end of my set, and it goes down pretty well. Name Guess There are a myriad of methods to guess a thought of name, as many of you may know, some from Peter Turner, even some from Fraser's past releases. This version uses a method you learned from one of the routines above, and you can change it to guess a thought of name. Mental Peek - Reverse Name Guess Now the spectator will guess your thought of name. Reverse mind reading is always good, as my typical train of thought is sometimes it is good to empower the spectator, as I do in some of my work, and they are amazed at how they are able to divine things like, names, cards, pictures, words from a book, etc, etc. Thought of Playing Card Divination Same as above....I love this because you are really making it seem like they had a free choice of card, and it seems so fair. I have also performed this one, as I am a fan of think a card. What makes everything beautiful at the end if the re-framing of everything and the spectator will agree that everything was on point. Mental Card Force If you want to force a specific card, instead of divining it, you use the same method from above. The Small Quiet Voice A way for a participant to cue you, without saying a word. Here Fraser goes over an example using a Peter Turner technique and urges you not to skip this part. Tell Tale -Truth or Liar Basic handling for how to secretly set up your participant to cue you on a specific mental answer The Wrap Up using a deck of cards with a force of a playing card, in order to setup for the above. Truth or Liar Billets You will get 2 billets included with the book, and you will always be able to do the Which hand routine and know which billet lies in which hand. Slip of Tongue This is probably, for me, worth the price of the book. It has beautiful re-frame moments, as well as very sneaky way of piecing everything together. Fraser goes over an example so you can see how well this plays Slip of Tongue = Truth/Liar Using the above for secretly obtaining a piece of information to setup and establish a Truth/Liar premise Truth/Liar Reverse Equivoque Same methods used, but now applied in a reverse equivoque. Truth/Liar Predictions adjustment to previous method used to divine playing cards, star signs, drawings, anything that can be thought of that is binary. What I like about all of this, is that Fraser gives you a framework to work with and takes you step by step and then dives deeper and deeper, as well as gives you multiple ways how you can achieve different results, depending on what you want to accomplish. Ploy Basic idea is to use a deck of cards with a thought of card revelation to gather other info from the spectator without anyone ever realizing that is what you are doing. Great, sneaky way to get more info out of your performance. Card Displacement by Peter Turner This is also very good, similar to KK from Kenton but different altogether. I have also used this a lot. Another gem in the book. In Ploy, Fraser goes over other applications as well on how best to use this, or how you want to use this in your own work. Very comprehensive and killer stuff. Pigs Might Fly - Throw away reverse Star Sign Credits Peter for original inspiration for this. This is really good, if you like zodiac sign divinations as well. Prop-less Horrors(Kioku) Memories Here Fraser explains how he would divine a thought of memory using the binary system Not My Own Thoughts This is another gem in the book, using binary method, spectator can think of one of different items, and you can divine it. Prop-less Ploy A way to know which of 3 primary colors a spectator is focusing on. Roots in Heaven = Free choice prediction A way of turning a free choice into a seemingly impossible prediction. Brilliant, another Gem! Again using methods you learned from above, will get you miles ahead here. Then you get an Intro into PAZ an ebook that was put out by Adrien Lochon and Fraser Then the Script and Explanation. Clubbed over the Head A way to force a specific suit on a spectator C.O.T.H. Context Shift Subtlety C.O.T.H. Scripting by Peter Turner. Example is forcing Clubs. O Force which has been released before, by Fraser and Ross, and here for those that don't know it. TOD O Using the O Force. Half-Life Equation In Fraser's old work, I have used this more times than I can remember. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Fraser then goes over Phedon's work a bit Proteus and how he uses it as well. There is a lot more covered, I mean a lot more. This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you are at all interested in Peter's work, Michael's, Fraser's most of their work intertwines here in this release. There are lots of variations on the effects discussed. There are lots of ploys, techniques, subtleties used. There is lots to cover. Basically you are getting a masterclass on propless work. The best yet I believe. I was talking to Fraser earlier today, and he advised that I include some performance links to some of the material from the massive work. So for your viewing pleasure, here they are: 1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1HqVCUHC-o&feature=youtu.be 2) Mental Peek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g3LGP2n_vY 3) Small Quiet Voice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kK3xpzf8WII Thanks guys Alex Alejandro

I pre-ordered The Book of Angels by Fraser Parker and I was fortunate that today Fraser allowed me to read a pre-edited version of the book. I spent most of today reading this book and I cannot praise it enough.
The first major part that really “hit me” [as it were] was the method that Fraser shared, in which is Peter Turner inspired and Fraser is able to divine what someone is thinking without – “Yes” or “No” without them verbally confirming either “Yes” or “No. This can be applied to so many different things from a******s to playing card divination sequences. I know a lot of people didn’t like COG by Ben Seward because they couldn’t do it (I wasn’t one of them), but with this you could do COG with complete certainty that you can divine the color of the playing card being thought of. Fraser applies a very similar principle to the “Liar / Truth Teller” plot. I don’t normally even like this plot and I’m not sure if I am going to use this principle for this plot but I really like what Fraser did here. I will be using this principle in my work from now on, no doubt about it. I should point out that the elegance of this hasn’t been seen in mentalism since Sean Waters released his routine titled Reflexology. It is so beautiful and so theatrical that it is going to be hard for people to resist not doing it even if they think to themselves, “it doesn’t fit my character” (a common excuse). Now we come to probably my favorite part of this book, which is the unique “Liar and Truth Teller” billets. Fraser uses a certain… how should I put it… technology that makes it possible to divine whether someone is a truth teller or a liar without you even being in the room (if you so choose). You could use it for a variety of routines and it is the only thing in this book that is not just information and involves some physical prop. The last thing that stood out to me the most was Ross Tayler’s name guess routine that Fraser included. This is what I would define as a propless, stand-alone effect that is fantastic. I know the inspirations but I cannot say without giving away some of the method but think about this: You go up to someone and ask them to think of someone, you divine the name. I will be using this in my performances. This book literally paid for itself because all of this information I can put into action right here and right now. Being someone who works in the field of psychology and often performs for the staff at the behavioral health hospital that I work at, I’m sure that this stuff will work really well and I plan on using it. I didn't read the entire book but everything that I read thus far was pure gold. There is a single digit and double digit number divination that is equally impressive. There is so much material to cover but I focused on the stuff that I will be using right now and that I have read. I only got about half way through the book so far. Cheers |

If I missed the previous books does it matter? Does this book cover all the previous material from the old books?

Wow thanks for the review Alex, that is a very generous amount of material and quality sounds awesome!!
I have pre-ordered this as soon as I found out about it. Although some have been sceptical of Fraser and Ross' material especially in the early days it is fantastic to see how far they have developed their awesome propless 'seed concepts' with many ingenious subtleties and ruses. The whole psychology of how they think and perform is quite brilliant and unique IMO (with PT of course being another fine exponent of this type of free thinking!). Fraser and Ross have just kept getting better as times goes on, it was eye opening to see the performances of some their material in the recent video release. Looking forward to this very much Al

Not sure, but I hope it's visual like being able to view live footage or instructions from Frazer. His release True Mysteries came with a DVD. It certainly helped how to structure the routines.

Finally started to descend into the awesome madness that is the final version of the Book Of Angels (go James Scott for a lovely layout!)
So first off, lets look at the chances of sequels being on par or better than originals across almost every form of media or production of any type... Usually production one is the most stellar with revolutionary "something" that creates a cult following and firmly establishes something truly remarkable. I'm sure you are all way ahead of me on how production two and above usually goes with thing getting progressively more average. Whether this is because of the creators ideas being too predictable by die hard fans or big corporate moving in to create a money producing product that looses some of it's "soul." I'd say the same thing is in our respective art forms most of the time. How many times have we really found a creator we love, bought their big book then hear of another one, which we impulsively buy and it doesn't deliver... That is not the case with Fraser's work. Fraser has the magical ability to create sequels that are above board, compliment and, most importantly, surpass the material of previous volumes. That being said, I am currently on page 148 of The Book Of Angles and it's so amazing to see where Fraser has taken the concepts we jammed on over the years and where they are in their current form (Fraser never considers an idea "finished.") I'll be back to report more once I am on the very last page and will make a video for Mystery Arts Inc. subscribers (and you scrubs out there who just don't subscribe too, I guess.) This is again, one of the rare pentadrilogies that have progressively improved from True Mysteries 1 & 2 to False Messiah to Second Coming and finally to The Book Of Angels. It honestly feels like having a real book of spells and I am so excited to start crop testing these methods in my own work like I have with all of Fraser's releases over the years. XX, -Jakob |
