Hi
I have been lurking for a couple of months but thought it would be better to join and say hi (and thank you for the excellent resource that this forum is). I have been a fan of magic all my life but it was only recently that I was properly but by the magic bug. As a family we often sit down to watch P&T Fool Us and my eldest decided he wanted to learn magic tricks. I bough him a magic aet, we learnt some card tricks and that was it - we were off. We've done two shows for friends and family and regularly try to learn new tricks or practice developing basic sleight of hand. It's been great father/son time and whilst we may never accomplish his dream of filling Penn and Teller we do hope to develop enough skill and confidence to perform to a since circle of people. I'm excited by this journey and grateful for all the excellent resources available online. If anyone has any advise on teaching a child magic I would be grateful. |

Welcome rboyd,
Sounds like you are having fun. How old is your Son? Use the search to see if the 'Teaching Children Magic' subject has been covered. You might post your question in either "The Little Darlings" or "New to Magic" fora. I've seen several questions about this but I don't remember if they got an answer. If you see something that works for you, please post about it. Lots of Magicians would give anything to be sharing Magic with their interested child. Be sure and check for typos before submitting. -Mary Mowder |
