This year F.I.S.M. will be held in South Korea. I do not plan to attend this one but instead have opted to spend my money on a closer international destination for a magic convention: Havana, Cuba. MagiCuba will be the first major magic convention in this country and I think it will be a great time to visit before tourism officially opens to U.S. travelers and the scene becomes too commercial with t-shirt shops and more. It is legal to travel there for this event due to the cultural exchange that has been set up for U.S. citizens. More info is available at http://magicuba.org But this week we talk with Jon Stetson and John Rose about mentalism and the Cuban connection. This podcast is really two, count 'em, two chats with Jon Stetson talking about mentalism and teaching the art then John Rose joins in with Jon to talk about MagiCuba.
You can watch a trailer video promoting the convention, see some photos, read the blog, listen to the podcast online and download the MP3 file at: https://www.themagicwordpodcast.com/scot......magicuba Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss another podcast. I spoke with Jon Stetson and John Rose while I was attending MAGIC Live! last year. I have held off posting this podcast until they had their website up and running and accepting registrations. Well, I almost waited too late because they were offering a $100 discount off of each registration through February 1, 2018. But they have offered an extension through February 28, 2018 with that same special discount pricing to all listeners of The Magic Word Podcast. Just be sure to put in the promo code: themagicwordpodcast when checking out. You can find all the details at http://magicuba.org And if you are involved with any magic convention and would like a little free publicity, then drop me a line at scott@themagicwordpodcast.com and I will add your event to the new Magic Convention Guide. You can access this new page at: https://www.themagicwordpodcast.com/magic-convention-guide/ Congratulations goes out to Abe Carnow who won the FREE Flash Drive of "Robinson Wizard's Magic Encyclopedia" from Jim Sisti. Be sure to listen and enter for a chance to win prizes in future podcasts.

Raul Castro, the dictator of Cuba since 1959, is in dire need of tourism dollars to continue paying his Pretorian Guard to protect him, and to continue suppressing the population. Tanks, soldiers, and bullets cost money. Otherwise the people of Cuba would have torn him to shreds long ago as the Italians did to Mussolini. The Castro dictatorship receives a 60% cut of all tourism dollars flowing into the island. All tourists who travel to Cuba are inadvertently helping to keep that dictatorship afloat. |
