Hello, in a couple of weeks time I'm doing a children's birthday party where the mum wants a magic trick done with a wrapped present 50cm x 30cm x30cm, can anyone suggest an "appearing" trick I could do, thanks

Since this is mostly likely something you'll use for one show only, I wouldn't go through a great expense.
Why not make up an oblong square circle out of two nesting cardboard boxes. Decorate the outside box up a bit so no one knows it's made from a cardboard container. That's what I would do. Gerry |

At one point I had a three foot high floor model temple screen which would do that easily as long as angles were ok. You could quickly make one in plastic corrugated 'cardboard' sheets and black gorilla tape.
But instead of box, you could do it from silks like free hand bowling ball production. That is, use favorite production box to produce a lot of silks which you drop all over on floor. Then at end you walk around picking the silks up with right hand and passing them to left hand forming bundle. At end you step forward, pause, and produce the package from bundle. I can PM you more details on handling if you need. |

If you can Frank, that would be great, thanks

Cardboard tip over box.
You shouldn't do this kind of thing unless you think you'll be able to use it again or you are being well paid. Just in case you have not already agreed to this... Doing a one off trick can make you look bad because it will not be as well practiced as your usual material. You don't want the "focus" of the show to be a trick that hasn't had the time it needs. Best of luck. Mary Mowder |
