I am working on a new effect but would need a box at least 1ft x 1ft probably a little bigger. I want to be able to show it empty and place a few items in side of it then close it and when you open it again all the pieces are put together. Is there anything like this I could purchase.
Thank you, Derek |

Conceptually, you might look at a Tip-Over box

Hood, I was thinking of a Flip Over Box as well at 1st, but it does not allow for an exchange. It is normally a vanish of a bird or rabbit.
I have never seen a box that large in magic. Usually they make boxes no larger then 10 inches. I guess for travel or to use more of the sheet of wood, meaning cost effective in manufacturing. I don't know of any exchange boxes ever being made. If you have a bench saw and have some wood working knowledge, you may be able to make simple exchange box. To do what you desire, would take a lot more then effort for a convincing effect. It may involve trap doors in tables, and mechanical working setup. Just depends on how good you are at misdirection over mechanics. Showing it empty, makes it even more complicated in design. The cost, if it could be designed would be beyond what most magicians would pay for such a prop. It has to be deceptive, after all, other wise the audience will see right through it. Depending on what you want to exchange, maybe a Change Bag would be another choice. You can show it empty, before and after the exchange. |
