Agreed. This is about Paul Gordon's excellent Head to Head Poker- not Boris Wilds variations. (At least I think.)
Anyway, I just thought I'd help out anyone interested by mentioning that Mr. Gordon has published even more good thoughts in his book Quidnunc. Cheers! |

No problem Warren, it is a great trick. Heck, Mr. Wild liked it so much he wrote a whole book about it!

All of these routines (Gordon, Wild, Bannon) started with Elmsley’s original.
Look at the handling in the back of Webber,s 23 for the solution others missed. |

I recently saw Paul's performance of this and was skeptical as to the spectator shuffle and immediately going into the effect with no adjustments, particularly since he does a false cut after the spectator shuffle. Is this covered in the download? Seems somewhat dishonst to me if not?

I should also add that I like Michael Vincents variation of this effect quite a bit with the hole card from his DVD's.

I've used David Williamson's handling for the last two cards, which is a bit of a gag but plays well. After you deal the last two cards on the table, you ask the spec to "point to the lucky card." If he points to the card you want him to take, you say, "OK, take it!" If he points to the other card, YOU take it as you say, "Thanks, I'll need all the luck I can get!"

That is a brilliant solution. Thank you David Williamson.

Personally I prefer a handling that I can repeat in front of the same spectator and have the outcome look exactly the same regardless of which card is chosen but the line David uses is funny.

I don't think there's a problem. A second deal with two cards is not a very demanding sleight. Even I can do it, and I would never do a second deal from a full deck in public.

I didn't say there was a problem.
Although I don't use a second the method I use is very clean and practical, that's one of the thing's I love about magic ie that there are lots of different solutions to potential problems 😊 |

Does anyone remember where the Published Version of Harry Lorayne’s Deal and Duck with Royal Flush cards is. I think it’s Harry Lorayne. I like the deal and duck routine because it avoids any trouble with the last two cards.

Not sure if we're thinking of the same routine - but my original Deal & Duck routine appeared in my book DECK-STERITY and that was rewritten and updated in LORAYNE: THE CLASSIC COLLECTION, Volume 1 - both long out of print.

The one I perform all the time is exactly like your original duck and deal but with the royal flush. You lay the first cards down as a demonstration 1 to them 1 to you then it’s basically the original Deal and Duck routine but you end up with a royal flush. Maybe it was in one of Paul Gordon’s books. I can’t remember but I really love it and use it a lot. Thanks Harry. I have read all the good stuff. I remember being blown away when I read the original Jaw Droppers. Really really great material in that book.
