Greetings Prestidigitators -
I was, at one point in my life, an awkward high-schooler with a deck of cards, an unusually large magnet, and chip on my shoulder seeking to woo the women of the lunchroom. It was a dark time in the magic community. Youtube was new, exciting, dangerous, and only available to those with a connection faster than dial-up. Brick and mortar magic shops were transitioning to online-only sales (RIP Barry's). David Blaine and Chris Angel were becoming household names. Youngsters (not unlike myself) were flooding the scene with little regard for the Tarbell Course in Magic. It was around this time of my life, over a decade ago, that I made my final post here in the Café. 11 years later, I'm chasing my dreams as a photographer in the Big Apple. In those years, I've encountered a handful of cardsmen and sleightsters that have encouraged me to re-seek the salvation of our Lord and Savior, Dai Vernon. Today, I make that plea. I'm hoping that reconnecting with this platform will give me the opportunity to meet folks in my area to dig through my old collections of tricks, books, DVDs, and gimmicks, and possibly add some new ones. Here's to the good ol' days! - Jon

Welcome Jonton,
And the sorting hat says... "The Workers" for you. Do an advanced search for NYC and New York in "Our New Arrivals" and "The Workers". A PM to some of the names that pop up might let you know about clubs or card sessions in your area. Best of luck. Mary Mowder |

Welcome back Jonton!
I like your photo work. I think we have some other photographers here who also found their way back to magic. I'm a Creative Director and let magic go in college due to the long hours a graphic design degree demanded. About 15 years ago I was supervising a print run and had some down time in between press okays. I looked in the yellow pages (remember those) and there were two magic shops within driving distance. I visited both, and haven't looked back since. It's a whole new world.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
