I posted a new topic in "Inner thoughts" with the subject "The Magician's Dream -- Audley Walsh"

Today I tried to do a search for all Audley Walsh posts and my post does not appear. Ooops! Try it!

Note the two minus signs in the subject! I wonder if the "--" is taken as a search "keyword" of some sort and omitting the rest of the text from the matching???

I'm not sure why this happens but your post is there where it should be. Do a search on your ID and it shows up. I don't think it has anything to do with "--"

Yes, the post is there but I was surprised it doesn't show up in the search results with a search string of "Audley Walsh." A search of "Walsh" finds the post since I have "Walsh" in the text.

I'll repost with a different topic.

I reposted the topic without "--" in the subject. Still does not appear in search results. "--" is not the culprit. Other subjects with Audley Walsh do appear. Strange.

I wonder if it's because you used the keywords "Audley Walsh" only in the title of that thread, but not actually within the post on that thread? Your 2 posts on the different threads are different, because in one you only say "Walsh" and in the other you say "Audley Walsh".

Here's a tip. When starting a new thread, put the title of the thread within the first post as well. It will help with searches later on.

No, when searching, you have the option of selecting results in the title only, title and body. You should be able to retrieve a search of the topic title.
