I don't know if it's muscle fatigue from practicing too much the day before or my hands are too dry. Does anyone else have this happen?

To: dgiancaspro! If you are going to borrow Jay Marshall's line, at least quote it correctly!

No, I have been "cp"ing "things" since 1945, and, at 86, I can still manage!

You may have exceptionally dry skin. In the winter, up North, in Michigan, my skin does get dryer than usual. Everyone's body chemistry is different! I get good results with 'Chamberlain's Golden Touch Lotion". If you buy it in a magic shop, you'll probably pay $4 or $5 for about 4oz. I buy an 8.5 oz. bottle in a drug store for about $4.50. It lasts me for a couple years. My last bottle must be at least 3 years old, so price may now be a bit higher. I apply it with an old perfume bottle that "sprays".

If you can't find it locally, contact Weeks & Leo Co. Inc. www.chamberlainlotion.com or phone: 1-877-974-7167

Or this one maybe. It's almost the same price as every retailer on Golden Touch online. Made By Roy Kueppers

Dick Oslund: I never heard that line from Jay Marshall ... Smile I'll definitely check out the Chamberlain's lotion. Looks like the only retailer near me is on Lexington Area so it may be cheaper to order from Amazon. The NYC markup is crazy.

I bought it to try. It did nothing but make my hand smell good. Everyone is different as the massive number of threads about dry hands on the Café will attest.

A single, small drop of glycerine from the drug store is what works for my very dry hands.

Here's another tip: Clean your coins with anything that will remove grease such as alcohol, or detergent. Once dry you'll find they are easier to palm.

Since this topic comes up several times a year in one or more of the forums. Here is a list of several items that work for different people (and not for others) but you can try any or all until you find your "sweet spot".

Chamberlain's Golden Touch spray lotion

Sort Quik (that bank tellers use)

Glycerin, alone or combined with rubbing alcohol and rose water

O'Keeffe's Working Hands Lotion

Cornhuskers Lotion

Violin Rosin - Roth recommends turning the milled edges into the block to get some between grooves. I use a mortar and pestle to grind a couple blocks into a fine powder and store it in a ziplock freezer bag. A 1/4 tsp is usually more than enough to rub between my palms and the tackiness lasts for hours.

Liquid Powder. The stuff weightlifters and rock climbers use. Goes on wet, dries as a powder. Use a baby wipe to just clean off the top white layer.

I am sure there is more but these are the ones I have used / tried myself and the answers that seem to come up most often. Also check out this great essay on the topic by one of our fellow Café members - ddyment. https://www.deceptionary.com/abouthands.html

I was about to post that link as well Poof-Daddy, after some searching here on the Café. But you beat me to it. I tried the Norwegian Formula and it's OK for a while.. Best tip is to train your palming muscle for a few years. Then it will be good to go Smile
