I've been playing around with the cut and restored rope routine that Cellini teaches on the art of street performing volume 2. Just wondering what kind of rope he's using on there. I'm using braided 1/4 inch sash cord as its cheap but it doesn't want to play nice

"...but it doesn't want to play nice..." That's 'cuz sash cord is "treated" to make it last longer! Magicians' rope is/was just sash cord, that hasn't been "treated".

I'm not familiar with Cellini's routine. Magicians' rope was relatively inexpensive, until the cotton price, rose exponentially, about 20 years ago. --and, postage rates went through the roof, too!

PM me, and, we can discuss it.

Wal Mart used to carry a fairly good thickness of rope (maybe 5 or 6/16?) now its 3 or 4/16! At any rate, it seriously looks like sash cord when I’m holdong it and I’ll probably go to a different hardware store and see what they have.

Get magicians rope. It’s thicker, brighter, and more supple. Keep an eye out on various magic supplier websites and stock up during sales. I just picked up three bundles for a few bucks each.

I second BTC, fantastic rope. I've also purchased magicians rope from Penguin before and it's been BTC rope. I'm not sure if that's always the case, but it has happened to me a few times.

I used to shop from Baron Trading BTC but after buying it in 2011 it was only $50 for 100 Meter, now it has gone up to $110 for 100 meters. That is like Home Depot or Lowes prices.
