First off, thank you both for the kind words. It was actually my dream once to own a flower shop, so your choice of metaphor is apt gallagher.
Eric - I'm not sure if you're serious, kidding, or simply being kind. I just like being helpful when possible (ala the post I made about the legal stuff in San Antonio last year), and I believe in the mission of preserving this knowledge. While I am very much a novice in this venue of performance, I know a little about a lot and am pretty good at researching the rest. Being helpful is my way of saying thanks. I also just happen to watch a lot of Youtube so I see the trends lol. That being said, if I can be helpful, please feel free to ask. -MV |

I enjoyed these. Eric talks about getting your head into the game. I find this very important and haven't seen others address this topic.

Hey there Eric,
How often do you plan to putt a video out? Maybe you could mention what you do when not working the streets? Possibly mention places of interest to work or watch street guys in action? (If you dare) Show yourself or someone getting a crowd? What does not work on the street? How to interact with street guys when your new and show up on a pitch? Just some random thoughts, Nickoli |

Hi Nick, I have managed to put one out a week and for the short term plan on keeping them that way for awhile. Eventually I may average a video once every 7-10 days. I appreciate the suggestions and will them in mind after the next two.
MVoss, while my words may have seemed insincere or merely polite, I was serious. However after thinking on it, the logistics seemed daunting to say the least. Many times during the making of these videos I’ve thought how similar it is to performing a new show. How I try to look like I know what I’m doing until I learn enough that I do know. Merely one example among many. I really appreciate all the kind words and suggestions from you all. Now if only I can figure out Instagram and reddit then I can grow the audience further reaching the right people. “I don’t necessarily want a big audience I just want a good audience.” |

Thanks Eric, I appreciate the kind words. I’m glad you’re going to forge ahead in your own style, in the end we learn by doing and I enjoy the videos a lot. I look forward to the future a great deal.

Thanks for the idea Riff!
The latest episode is up and is a two parter. This first part addresses a question I posed to Cellini several years ago, namely, is magic a form of Art? You might be surprised at his answer. Comments and suggestions are very welcome. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/c1A8ZATYfnA |

Greetings Eric.
I'm sitting in a corner of a Berlin U-bahn station, right now. Free Wifi(!). I wanted to nibble through your latest servings. You usually inspire me. Sometimes 'up'. Sometimes 'down'. ,..always good for thought. This time,.. ahh, that 'War theme' again.... phew... i won't get started. blaaaaa. "Perhaps a recurring theme". I was warned. öK. Picasso,..garbage(!)..? That made me smile,.. Jackson Pollock garbage?...! what are you smoking in those little Doobies you're always rolling? Man,.. that one hurt. Last year, I wandered into Pollock's 'Mural'. Getty had just restored it, then put it on tour. WoW. I can only believe, you simply do not understand what these guys were up to. Here's a little quicky for you. (Hey, I spent 18:00+ watching your,.. take five minutes and listen to this. easy-peasy. Thanks.) https://www.khanacademy.org/partner-cont......-pollock The thought involved, will help you understand the concept of 'Art'. As you mentioned, Conjuring,..can have it's place. Especially, in the sence of those like Jackson Pollock. p.s.: I believe 'The Mural' is on display, at the University of Iowa. Free(!),.. Forgot chasing the bucks,.. drive to Iowa. You'll thank me. Thanks for your efforts. Gallagher |

On Jun 13, 2018, gallagher wrote: Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts here Gallagher. But perhaps you are the one who doesn't understand both Pollock and I. I spent the first 20 years of my life, as stated in this latest vlog, learning about art. I see nothing, nothing rewarding or thought provoking or any sense of wonder engendered in Pollocks drippings. It doesn't inspire me, nor does it the narrator of the video you proffered here. (And btw, if it is a chore for you to view my videos, then please don't. I don't want others to think that because they watch my videos that they then can hold over my head doing so, so that I must view their offerings of third party videos.) The narrator couldn't reference Pollock's work without referencing Pollock's "boldness" and other aspects of his personality. To my way of thinking, if you have to know about the artists personality to view his work, then the piece of work is a failure, and maybe even trash. (a minor note: there's a difference between "garbage" [what you said] and "trash" [what I said]. One is more filthy and can foster vermin, and I don't want sentiments put in my mouth.) There was nothing offered in the video that I didn't already know about Pollock (See the first sentence of the paragraph above). It didn't add one iota to my knowledge of him, but it was lacking a representation of his earlier works which, to me, were very good. Specifically his drawings were outstanding. Trash is trash. And again, if the war paradigm makes you uneasy, again, feel free to not watch my efforts. I don't want to have to go thru this over and over again. But perhaps, before you take your leave you might watch the second part of The Source and then you might gain some insight beyond what you presently think. Unless you've read my book, no one should expect to have any understanding beyond a superficial, prejudiced view of my work to date. Until then, you might not know what you're talking about. As to the others here who've taken the time to respond to my efforts, thank you for your kind comments. I'm going thru some changes in my life right now and fighting off some depression, so your positive comments are very helpful to me in my "fight". (<<see what I did there Gallagher) Ciao bella |

...if you engage is discourse in a public forum you should be as accepting of criticism as you would praise.
It's not a personal attack. |

Hello Mr. Nosmoht, “Public discourse” is something I choose to do here, and in the comments section of my vlog. The vlog itself is intented to convey my opinions, my own truth that I arrived at after devoting my life to it. Agree or disagree, I don’t care and whatever you choose is yours to say. Here and there. If you’ve watched my vlogs, and paid attention, you might have realized this by now.
But to bring up a terminology dispute as Gallagher did in the first paragraph that I quoted from his long post (notice I didn’t include it all?), is water that long ago passed under the bridge, and I wish not to be engaged here either, especially when I have expressed myself here before about the matter and those here either don’t understand my position, or misunderstand based on not listening or reading what I stated before. To that end I’m creating these vlogs, to inform on a subject that I know something about.. I don’t know how long you’ve been here, but this has all been addressed before and I really shouldnt get Gallagher “started” — “blaaa”. Passive aggression is a waste of my time. I know what I wrote there was not incredibly clear, as to I well know that what I have written and said before wasn’t perfectly stated, but really, if you want to understand it then you will, if you don’t , you won’t. It’s that easy. And it’d save me a lot of time editing. |

I mean, considering just my latest vlog, and the views I expressed there, how would you in that context take the ignorant, oblivious statement that after watching a five minute video will help me as Gallagher said, “you understand the concept of 'Art'”
Sorry, that is patronizing and diminishes art itself. Screw that. And screw this. |

Hey Eric please don’t stop doing your videos.
Try to set aside any negative words or thoughts. The subject was street magic and your experience doing so. Yes I believe magic is art but these last writings of yours have gone a different direction. I mean by being distracted by others comments. Everyone needs encouragement now and then and it sounds like your In need. So hey keep doing what your doing. You have a ton I mean ton Of experience in this wonderful field of street magic. All the best, Nickoli |

Hi Nick, yeah my feathers were ruffled a bit. I’m trying to concentrate on all the overwhelmingly positive comments concerning my work to date. However at this time in particular, I’m a bit overly sensitive to stuff, crap, that happened years ago. And to bring it back up now tics me off, especially from Gallagher (notice that this weeks effort was the first with a thumbs down review? I wonder where that came from?); I went round and round with him about this stuff before and he just refused to see past his nose and his preconceptions. So to bring it all up again as he did hit me pretty hard.
I’ll continue to Vlog as I really don’t want to have to write another book and would rather touch on subjects that I would’ve included there. However, I may end up taking a leave from the Café here as I really don’t want to go thru the crap I endured years ago, both here and at Hustle’s Busker Café. Cheers |

"Passive aggression"...
I sound like Mother Teresa with brass knuckles! Eric, I was re-acting to your latest Vlog. The one that opened and ended with: "War is the Art without which there could be no other." It reminded me of your book: 'Street Magic & The Art of War'. Which I own, and have read, and never openly commented on. Eric, I have never discussed your book with you, 'here' or anywhere else. If you think I am "another person writing under another name", I'm not. I only write and only have, written under my name. True, I've written some stuff, I'm embarrassed having left my name behind(!), ..but,... It has always been the one and same name. [i was at Danny Hustle's site, for about one month,..early on. Your site, as well. Same time span.... i simply didn't have the time. i didn't fight with you at either.] I have always respected your efforts,.. and considered them. ,...never called them "trash", for example. I have no Google or youtube account.. You will never find a comment or critique, from me, by your films, ..or anyone elses. (I have enough problems remembering the password for here!) I'm sorry to hear of your 'rough times'. I wish I could offer advise... If it helps any, I will tell you: ..in such moments, ....I usually fail. My savior has always been.. Time. Keep showing up. Strangers will comfort. They are the ones who speak honestly with you. ,..and listen when you speak. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . öK, my advise sucks. Here's some 'comfort' (!). Gazzo and Jimmytalksalot were in the suana. Gazzo says, "Jimmy; totally naked, show me your best trick." Jimmy says, "Buddy, turn around and bend over." Gazzo obliges. Jimmy walks up behind him and with a 'shove' says, "Do you feel my thumb!..?" Gazzo giggles and says, " Yeeeeahhh!" Then Jimmy says, "Look at this!" ,....reached around Gazzo and showed him both thumbs. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. I wish you well Eric. ,..appreciate and respect your efforts. Agreeing or Disagreeing. Gallagher Hayes |

I don’t recall exactly but I do remember you busting my chops and objecting very adamantly to my comparison of war to magic. Maybe 8-10 years ago? But if you like, I can assume that you’re more magnanimous about it all now without white-washing the past. I’ll take that, and leave the rest. |
