Hi,I purchased a used drawing board at a flea market. Pieces of what looks like cellophane or plastic wrap are peeling off of the drawing surface. Just wondering if anyone has seen this. Maybe someone covered it for some reason.
Thanks, Jack

There should be no type of cellophane or plastic wrap on it. The prior owner might have put it on to protect the drawing surface. When buying it direct, it comes with a cloth carry case that the drawing board fits into to protect it, but I'm assuming yours didn't. That may be why it had plastic wrap on it.

I have noticed when drawing something on the surface and wiping it off with a cloth or an eraser, if you hold the board at an angle, you can still see the markings very, very, lightly. When this happens I use Expo white board cleaner and it takes it off.
Maybe the other person used the film so he could wipe off the markings easier, but I would think when drawing a picture on film, the picture wouldn't look to be as sharp looking. |

That is true. It looks wrinkled. Never owning the board before. I wasn't sure what to think. It looks like the film is tucked under the frame. I think I will take it apart and lose the film. It is falling apart anyway.
Worst case scenario, I order new plastic and cardboard sheet from Ax.

Yes, get rid of the protective plastic film. And like tbaer said, use Expo cleaner after each performance.

One more thing: Check with Axtell to make sure you use the right markers. You need the II version, never the I.

Thanks, Jack! It’s still one of our favorite routines to perform. Gets great reactions from kids and adults alike!

Brand new boards come with plastic film over them for protection in shipping. If the board isn’t used, that could be it. Those fiber cases are no longer being made and are great for transporting it, so you have a gem with that.

I bought my drawing board used. The plastic was scratched and had faint marker lines that could not be removed. I replaced it with plastic from Lowe's hardware. New "glass" is slightly thicker than original but everything works.

Yes single strength glass works great and you can get it in "non-glare" but do be careful because it can shatter and yes is heavier. That's why we build them with the plastic. You can get the replacement high polished plastic from us at http://www.axtell.com/mdb.html
