I had the idea of the "signature" in 2012 and by that very moment the reactions changed drastically. The first vanish that I use (Brush stroke vanish) was discovered by pure accident while playing/practicing. This is how I came out with the subtlety that really makes it work from a visual/logical standpoint. I really like it and the reactions to it are always great. Jack |

On Jul 18, 2018, Bad jelly wrote: Hello BadJelly, thanks for your comments. About my performing personality, I always follow this simple rule : "Always treat others with respect and dignity, exactly as you would like to be treated". That's who I am in real life so it's not hard for me to be kind and respectful of others while performing. If someone is rude I simply do a shorter set and go meet another group. Life is too short to bother with un-respectful people. In every magic convention I go, I always sit in the front row and I always volunteer to go on stage to be in the spectator seat and see how I feel. In the last 25 years I've been the "assistant" of almost every great living magician. Some treated me with kindness and respect, others were making fun of me ... it depends on their performing style. I always felt better when they made me feel good about myself rather than making fun of me, even if it was really funny. So I learned a lot by goin' in assistant mode. You're right "spectators don't know what they don't know" ... they never heard about d...ble f...e cards ... they never heard about the other moves we're using in this routine. So for them, what's happening is really an experience of pure wonder. Especially at the end with the pocket climax and the signature ... their minds simply don't have any place to go. Continue to have fun with it and you'll see that this trick will give you some of the strongest reaction you will get from your close-up repertoire. I'm always here to help so don't hesitate one second to PM me if you feel the need to do so. Jack |

I would suggest maybe also doing a physical release/video download, that includes what is needed if you ever plan on a future release/redo. While the digital download and instructions definitely tell you what you need and how to prepare things if you don't own them already, I think this is one of those tricks that will definitely be better with the official gaffs. |

Obtainable easily so not necessary to include and it they are, it will only increase the overall cost

That thing I purchased, is definitely not on the lower end, and I would just think that these could be easily supplied for a few dollars more? Maybe they're available, and I just don't know where to look? I had purchased the original Oz version back on Penguin in the early/mid 2000s, which was also a download, but I didn't like the construction method and never did it because of it. I think the gaff really does seal the deal on the performance side, and while creating one allows you to practice, I personally wouldn't perform this using ones I created myself. For example, a recent new release uses a custom gaff, and it's selling for $20 with 25 reusable gaffs. This doesn't need that many, so the cost could be a decent bit lower, and offer both options for people interested. |

I thought Jack added some very interesting touches to an old effect. He deals with the problematic "switch" in many of the versions by simply eliminating it. His method of "getting into" the effect is very direct. Jack has chosen some very strong vanishes for the aces and using the spectator's pocket for the reveal is also very strong. All in all, a very good routine for a reasonable price.

The vanishes that Jack performs in the trailer look great! Since the vanishes are essential to the plot, how difficult are they to learn and execute?

Jack,
Thanks for the excellent routine! I purchased your video from Penguin and I can't wait to perform the trick for friends this weekend (after some practice, of course). I already own the necessary props. Mark
Doing tricks can be easy, being an entertainer is much harder.

Thanks to all for the kind words. I really appreciate it. "Ultimate Aces Unleashed" has been on the market for 7 months now and it's still doin' well. Everyone that have it seems to really like it.
Since then, I came up with an easy way of resetting everything in front of the spectators while performing it. The nice thing about it is that it never look as you're resetting anything, it just look like you're taking the unnecessary cards away as the routine move forward. To me, this "resetting" issue was the only downside of this hard hitting routine. I always had to hide myself in the men's room to do the reset, not anymore. I made a 9 minutes video for one of my students, it's in french but no worries, it's extremely easy to follow thru and learn from it. I explain it 3 times, very slowly at first and once in real time so you'll be able to learn it with cards in hands. To those interested, just PM me and I will send you the youtube link. Jack |

It depends on your ability level with cards but honestly, they're pretty easy to do so you'll be able to concentrate on presentation. I'd say that the "Brush stroke vanish" (the one used for the ace of spades) is the harder but it's not hard at all, you should get it in 10 minutes. You'll need a little practice to perform it fluidly but trust me ... it's quite easy. Let me know if I can be of any help or if you need a little Facetime session, I'll be glad to show you. Jack |

Love the trailer and I am going to get this trick. I have a question about the signed Ace.
As far as managing spectator expectations, it wouldn't be unusual for a professional magician to present a deck that happened to have a signed Ace. I am new to magic (and everyone who knows me knows that) and would be performing it at a party or small gathering of friends and family. What excuse could I offer to explain why I have a deck with a signed card? |

I don't have this, but just a quick idea I've used elsewhere:
You can put a spot of marker in a specific place like it's a smudge or an accidental touch of a sharpie. That might be more natural for you.

When someone say out loud : "This ace has a signature on it" I simply reply : "Yes, sometime I have a card signed" ... and go on with the routine. Note that the way the routine is built, they always notice and most importantly remember that a card is signed, but they don't always mention it. Stay safe and have fun with the routine. Jack |
