Hi there,
I am trying to fix something but I cannot find a way to do it.
When ever I use words with apostrophes like the word can't it comes out weird.
Same thing happens when I use quotes or parenthesis.
Any help would be really appreciated, I have tried many different browsers and I am on an iPhone if that helps.

p.s: I notice that from my Mac it works just fine.

When I use my Word Processor program – and the cut and paste from it – I seem to see that the material “cut and pasted” into the text box on the Café get ‘funky’ symbols inserted. I think that this is because my word processor is set up for “smart quotes.”

As seen in the above text that was 'cut-and-pasted' from my word processor.

When I type directly into the Café's text box, these "smart quotes" are not engaged and I get clean copy.

You are absolutely right,
I usually prepare my posts in advance and then copy and paste.
Is there any way to remove the smart quote setting?

I think that you need to do it in your word processor.

I use Word and you can disable the problem characters by opening Word, click on 'File,' select 'Options', select 'Proofing," select 'AutoCorrect Options,' select "Autoformat' and uncheck the replacements list, then do the same for "AutoCorrect As You Type."

This is a real pain if you want the smart quotes in what you normally type, but just want to disable the special characters for posting on the Café. I usually compose in Word, cut and paste (after spell checking) and use the "Preview Post" button in the Café to see if I have any funky characters. I don't always catch them all.

Well, this is very interesting.

When I originally posted the above, it contained those funky characters. It has since been cleaned up. Like magic!

And the smart quotes (and single quotes) look kind of smart, too. At least as smart as they get for the Café's typeface.
