I’m looking into invisible thread as it seems to be the most logical next step for my style of effects.

However upon looking briefly into the SPP and Tarantula it quickly became apparent that there is a whole lot I don’t know about thread, how it works, or even how it has been used previously to great effect.

So before I make that classic magicians error and buy something I can’t use and have no idea about, where’s a good place to start with theory of IT, some examples of performers who regularly make use of it or perhaps a book dedicated to ‘classic’ thread work if there is one?

WHO'S AFRAID OF INVISIBLE THREAD? by Jon LeClair <- that was my first study material when I decided to learn IT magic. Then around 2009 I saw Steve Fearson's Master Levitation System and then I really got it. I would choose Fearson's System if I were beginner, really worth the money (and it's cheap!)

Michael Ammar also has some DVDs on invisible thread called "Easy To Master Thread Miracles" V1-3. He goes through different hookups, lighting, effects, types of thread, elastic, non elastic. Pretty much covers everything you need to know.

Hi Guys The Cool Spool by Roy Zaltsman Invisible Elastic Thread well I have used Roy's elastic thread for 8 years now long before it was marketed in the UK
I have to say it's the best out there and iv'e tried them all nothing else even comes close to how
invisible it is, and the stretch ability is amazing. I won't mention other elastic thread as it's
all hype. It will allow you to do a Haunted Deck Routine, and everything else performed with elastic thread
I believe it's still on sale at http://www.warpedmagic.co.uk/products/th......zaltsman
If you use elastic thread give this a try you won't be disappointed I won't use any other ever.
I have had samples of everything else on the market and to be perfectly honest the majority is
absolute garbage(only use if you want to get caught first time) This is just my opinion but
this thread works in the real world.

Wow... Those are some bold statements (even for being your own opinion). Here is mine. In over 25+ years of thread work (IT and IET) I have used IET by Mesika (Loops and in bulk), "EVE" and "Mono" brands from Steve Fearson, "Legacy" by Subdivided Studios, "Infinity 2.0", "PET 2.0" and a couple odd generic IET's. In my opinion, only some of the odd generics were sup-par. "Pet and Infinity" are "useable but slightly inferior" to "Mesika, EVE, Mono and Legacy". I would say that none of these were "Absolute Garbage" and certainly not "THE MAJORITY" being sub-par, much less "ABSOLUTE GARBAGE". I have not tried this particular "Cool Spool IET" and probably will not as I have a great supply of several excellent IET brands. This does not mean I am saying anything negative about this brand, I simply have no need for a new one. This brand may very well be fantastic but to call "the majority" of others after "trying them all" - "Absolute Garbage" is ludicrous.
