Not strictly speaking a magic trick in its' own right, but I thought I'd share this project I've been working on for a local pantomime. It demonstrates a really cost effective smoke generator using vape/e-cig atomisers and a small air pump. As you'll see the smoke output is pretty good.
Apologies that you don't see it igniting the flash cotton in the video - thought it was best not to go setting any off in my office here at work! If people are interested then I can share some more details on how I built the smoke machine - it's very straightforward and my design differs from others in that it allows the atomiser to be removed and swapped quickly without any soldering. I reckon a working smoke machine can be made for £20 with this method. https://youtu.be/EMY4ONfV6kg Hope you enjoy! |

That's really cool, and I'm particularly interested because I have a lamp just like that one.
Yes, if you can share some info on the details and the remote, that would be great. I wouldn't do the lights or the flash myself, so just the smoke would be fine for me. Thanks!

Took this build a bit further and decided I'd build my own mini smoke machine that I can build in to props as required. The first prototype is a stand alone radio control one with its' own battery, but I'm also going to make a version that's smaller with a DC input so it can be integrated easily in to something that already has power like a robot etc. or just be cabled on stage from a controller and power supply somewhere centrally.
It's a super short video, but take a look here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWctA_Jt1hg 3d printed enclosure containing the atomiser, pump, battery, charger and controller. Smoke fluid is Seuthe steam simulation fluid from the world of model railways - I find it "sticks" together better in the air forming milky strands rather than dispersed smoke. Hope you like! |
