I purchased and received a copy of The Cardician by Edward Marlo. The book arrived in near mint condition. The dust jacket is flawless. The book cover is flawless. It appears that it was put in a clear plastic dust cover when it was printed in 1953 and read very little. The book has a book plate (approx. 4-3/4 in. X 6-1/4 in. paper) a-fixed to the first page. It states that this is book No. 224, has nothing under the property of, and is signed Ed Marlo. I confess I paid $120 for it. The sellers description and accompanying pictures are is what gave me the feeling it was good deal. I looked it up on Amazon.com and this book is listed at $235 - $575. I do not really trust the site for setting valid prices. The only flaw is that two pages in the front and in the back of the book have started to darken, otherwise it is truly in mint condition. What I would like to hear is - What do you think about what I paid for it. -Yea or Nay
Thanks for Reading and Take Care

I just can say, that I would have done it also. But since I just started to get serious about collecting books, you shouldn't take that as an indicator for the value of your deal. A lot to learn in this area but a fascinating thing.

The spiral bound?
Right now Magicinc is selling it for $29.95, new.
Unless yours has some extra value. Like first printing, signed etc. But even then. I saw signed, first edition a few times between 40 and 50 US-Dollar in the last half year.

Well I just found an identical copy of The Cardician on the magiccollectiables web site. You can check it out, if you like. It is apparently a library edition. I just remembered that the hardbound - first editions are rare. They marked theirs down from $275 to $239. Both are numbered (theirs #74, mine #224), both are signed, and both are in excellent condition. So I guess I did alright with my purchase.
Thanks, magic.42

Oh, didn't know of that site, yet. Good to have another source for prices.
And congrats for finding your copy.
Thanks,
