Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feedback and interest. The other effects include simple and direct effects that use subtly over heavy sleight of hand, or heavy stack work. Heres some more information on the material on the dvd. "Out of my Sight" - this is my streamlined version of the Vernon classic out of sight out of mind, if you use this style of routine I know you'll enjoy this. "Thought of Monte"- the classic two card monte with a kicker ending of thought of cards. This is my now go to handling. "Medley" - A close demonstration of tells that gets progressively more impressive, simple sleights and a thought of card finish. "Technically Missing" - A psychic at the card table type demonstration. look like a master at the card table and tells. "Dead Cut" - A real fooler! a thought of card and a dead cutting demonstration combined. The rest I'll let you discover for yourselves Cheers Steven x |

Well, I am still going over it.
But to me quickly, this isn't a full review. Void is worth it just for that effect. If you like Think a Card tricks, this has some nice subtleties, and layered method. More later. Alex

Hi everyone,
I’m not new to magic but I am new to the Café, so this is my first review on here. I picked up the dvd over the weekend and have to say I am very impressed. The ad copy is very accurate and the effects are strong, flexible and available from the beginner to the expert level. Void: These are Stevens versions of a revealing a thought of card from a mixed deck. One version uses his “deviant” shuffle system. This is way of holding out cards during a spectator shuffle. It is very fooling and something I personally hadn’t seen before. It has a lot of extra uses outside the routines you see here. I think anyone who discovers this will have a flood of ideas about what it could be used for outside the routine demonstrated. The hardcore version will fool many magicians and more importantly, both versions will fool the spectator. Without giving too much away it feels like a mind power deck meets Koran deck. Except the spectator removes the cards he/ she gets to look at themselves. The beauty of this system is the seeming lack of f@@@ing needed to get to the card as Steven has taken time and put a lot of thought into how to make the necessary sequence a straight sequence of statements rather than questions. i.e there is no anagram type procedure to this system and routine. In short, highly recommended and something I will definitely be using. Thought of monte: This is Steven ’s version of the classic street magic effect “ two card Monte effect” but with an additional kicker and the removal of a sleight, I was never 100% with. In a nutshell, it has a fooling selection method I hadn’t seen before which allows a shuffled deck to be dribbled and have two selections made with your head turned and the deck immediately overhand shuffled. Then what follows is, in my opinion, a stronger version of the classic version of the Monte routine. Heroes and Villains: This a clever and fooling idea of a lie detection routine using a classic principle I hadn’t seen used in a routine like this before. It ends with a thought of stop deal which I particularly liked. The backbone of the method is very clever and fooling and I like the end of the thought of stop on a dealt card. I probably won’t be using this but the construction of the routine is very clever. Technically Missing: This uses a great control I will be using!. The overall routine premise has a thought reader at the gaming table feel to it. But it looks far more skilful than the sum of its parts. A card is selected from a magicians hands off the deck and then the deck is shuffled and the magician cuts four packets in a flash onto the table which are the mates of the selection. This fooled me badly the first time I saw it but then I laughed at the subtle involved. The production and selection are both very fooling and can be used individually. I wouldn’t use the routine as Steven does but the parts of it are very clever and id definitely use parts from this routine. Memorabilia: This is my second favourite routine on the project. It is a two person thought reading routine with a lot of potential for any presentational theme you wish. The first card is peeked in the deck. Stevens’s touches on the peek are very clever and again I will use his version in my own routines from now on. Following this the deck is shuffled. Packets of cards are pushed off the top of the deck in bunches of 4-5 cards a time whilst the second spectator is asked to just remember a card he sees and tell you when he has one in mind. The packet is dropped on the talon of the deck. The deck is shuffled and then both cards are very cleanly revealed. This routine has some very clever components and I will take a couple of them and use them in other routines I do. Out of My Sight: This is Steven’s version of the classic Vernon routine “Out of sight out of mind”. He has streamlined and arguably made the selection procedure more fooling than the standard approach. If you are familiar with the routine it is arguably the best routine you can do with a borrowed deck of cards and Stevens handling tips have made it more streamlined without much compromise on the selection procedure. The routine also has the benefit of a clearer ending leaving far less room for a spectator to confuse the ending. I will use this and the construction is very, very clever. Medley: This is a progressive routine that starts with a selected card and moves through more complex and more option selection procedures until the performer is able to reveal a truly thought of playing card. A single card is revealed, then a poker hand reveal that the spectator removes from the deck finally by a genuinely thought of card following a genuine spectator shuffle. This is a strong and rapid routine perfect when someone says, “show me something” and you want to look like a thought reader rather than a magician with a deck of cards. The deck can be borrowed also. Deadcut: This is a commercial gambling demo meets a thought of card. I was familiar with a version of this routine from Stevens earlier work but the version he has presented here is a much-streamlined version. If you are not familiar with the methodology behind this it will probably fool you. In a nutshell, a thought of card is selected in a very fair manner by the spectator, the cards mixed by the spectator and then the performer is able to dead cut to the spectator’s selection. It's a great effect but probably best kept when performing for the “boys at a session. Overall: I really enjoyed this DVD project and certainly left with a head full of ideas and full routines, definitively value for money and I will be keeping my eyes open for any future projects of Stevens. The way Steven constructs his material is subtlety over brute sleight of hand. His work on the breather crimp and its applications really sparked some ideas for me I can use in my existing routines letting me take a much more hands-off approach to the routines. 8/10 for me |

Thanks, Steerpike for the thorough review!
I'm really glad you got something out of it, you put it better than it could when it comes to summing the effects up! I hope everybody who picks this up enjoys it. |
