What I enjoy about Gospel magic is the creativity one can employ. I was watching this morning on www.youtube.com on Duane Laflin's "Gospel Magic Channel" his terrific handling of the square circle. Most magicians have this prop. My own large square circle comes on a nice wood base which is picked and shown so the kids know the table underneath is not rigged. This week I have also reading through the just released 216 page 2018 published book "Unshakable Hope" - Building Our Lives On The Promises of God by Max Lucado. What a fantastic book, available at all bookstores or www.cbd.com

See above (continued). Duane's beautiful square circle prop is available from www.LaflinMagicStore.com for $159. Using Duane's handling, I am going to show my prop empty to the Sunday School kids- our world is empty of hope (chapter 1 of "Unshakable Hope"). We need to build our lives on a rock solid foundation, to be people of the precious promises to ponder, proclaim and pray through. The book has many promises, I will pick 6 or 7 to review such as joy (chapter 11- clown silk), the temporary tomb (chapter 10 -Jesus silk) and God gets you (chapter 7 - God is love silk) and a heir of God (chapter 4 - sponge heart), etc.

There is also a shorter fantastic devotional book by Max and Andrea Lucado which goes through 30 promises with suggested short prayers. It is entitled "Praying The Promises". I am going to show the kids at Lighthouse Community Church both books as my inspirational source for the October 14 Gospel magic routine and as an encouragement for them to read good inspirational books for the rest of their lives. And, ironically, both of the books mentioned above have a lighthouse on their covers! 😊 So thank you Duane for the idea of using the square circle to be used in my classroom as a way to review 6 or 7 precious promises of God made to us as found in Scripture for our hope and encouragement!

Thank you for sharing this. Who DOESN'T own a square circle! (or two? ) I am always looking and thinking of new ways to use the myriad of toys in that crowded room in the basement in new ways to present the gospel of Jesus to more people!
Duane Laflin is a gift to the Christian illusionist community. Not just because he is a great gospel presenter and entertainer, which he certainly is, but because he is committed to using his success to create successors! We, as believers in Christ, are called to make disciples of all nations. We are to continue in this work until Jesus returns. Duane embodies this concept in his work and I for one have been very blessed by what I have learned from him. Although we have never personally met, he has mentored me and made me a better performer and presenter. I recommend Duane's "Gospel Magic Channel" on youtube highly to anyone who enjoys illusion presentation and wants to use that talent to share the gospel. |

The square circle could also be used for Easter- the Tube being used as the Tomb. and our Lord not there when tube lifted- HE Arose.
