Pop,
That was the best handling and presentation of the Devano rising cards I've ever seen. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz |

Thanks, Darwin! I have always loved this effect. One of my students showed this handling to Marlo, and he liked it very much.
For any members who are interested, this handling is available as a download at https://www.popsmagic.com/store/p111/Pop......deo.html |

Been performing the Martini Rising Card and it is fairly easy to execute. Highly recommended it.

My favorite rising card gimmick, by far, is David Regal's Heading North. The card rises, the spectator pulls the protruding card out of the deck, then I put the deck on the table, spread it, and leave it. Sometimes spectators will run their hands through a few cards to ensure the deck is normal. Only if they minutely examine each card would they find the gimmick, and that's never happened.

My go-to rising card effect is definitely the effect created by Henry Evans, it's relatively simple to learn but looks very smooth and fluid, gets a great reaction every time!
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it now. Boldness has genius, power, and magic at its core.

Didn't Daryl have one with the deck in an envelope, suspended by a pencil?
I am currently using Kundalini, but I loved the hands off approach that Daryl's presentation conveyed. |

I'll also add my personal endorsement for the Martini Rising Card Deck.
You just can't beat it, and, per Pop's comments, the service is GREAT, they are VERY well made, and they stand behind their product. If Don Alan was around today..........I'll bet that this would be the one he would use..... |

And, I might add, you really want the gimmick having a court card as the face card....better camouflage....
Perhaps it makes sense, when ordering, to specifically request this. |

Recently we were graced with the presence of a legend among the lecture circuit, Paul Richards. The rising card technique he demonstrated was very effective and required minimal DIY gimmicking. Apologies if his method has been previously mentioned in this thread, it could be attributed to another creator, but I believe it is original to Paul (correct me if I'm wrong...)

I love these necro'd threads!
Ack, I need to track it down unless Harry Lorayne comes to the rescue. There is a brilliant rising card by John Braun that was published in Mr. Lorayne's corpus of work. I thought it was in Best of Friends II but it isn't. I THINK it's either in Apocalypse or one of the other BoF books. I'll look later today. Anyhow, it does use a gimmick of sorts -no thread or any stuff like that. You can make the necessary in less than a minute and literally just shove it into your wallet! I'm not a historian but I do believe that this method is original with John Braun. It kills civilians and I've even caught a few magicians with it. I hope Mr. Lorayne comes across this as his memory is better than mine else I will have Harry Lorayne books respectfully strewn everywhere in an attempt to cite the routine. Hmm, I really do think it's in Apocalypse. I have the image of the image of the necessary in me addled pate. |
