Anyone seen this programme? there was a hilarious segment where a young lad was hypnotised for a game of cups and balls, the cups were clear glass and the ball bright pink...
he was made to not see through the cups, the hypnotist first gave him a confidence boost by losing all his money to the young lad then gave members of the public a chance to have a go, needless to say they cleaned up and the look on his face was priceless. good show!
all the effects on this programme were carried out in either city centres, shopping malls etc.

Looch,
I've seen the programme, and is really funny! I was watching it with some friends yesterday and they just couldn't believe that the participants could change like that. Especially the sleeping while standing.

Peter Powers is really good at coming up with creative ways to present stage hypnosis. I thought it was a really clever routine.

I watch it a lot I am concerned about one or two bits like when he got that guy in a ring with a pro thai boxer it was a bit dangerous

Some of it was hilarious, some of it was rather distasteful.
In the episode I seen, he had a guy thinking he was the worlds greatest magician doing an amazing trick for all those graced with his presence. When infact, the trick was pathetic and everyone laughed at him. A feat most magicians achieve anyway without hypnosis. hehe, I couldn't stop laughing at it.
Then again, he did have one man picking up emmm stuff in a field, which was disgusting and not very funny at all. Given the current perception of hypnosis by many and the ridiculous anti-hypnosis shows, the professionals should be trying to improve the image of the art, not adding to peoples negative pre-conceptions by performing questionable material on tv! Just think how that would sound being discussed at a water cooler somewhere the next day. It's not that big a deal and I certainly don't want to start a debate on the subject but even though it was on some obscure sky channel late night, I think he should have taken more care to project hypnosis more positively.
Overall, still funny though, well done to him.

Powers does tend to go a bit to far. I remember seeing him many years ago in glasgow and he was deliberetly letting people fall backwards without catching them. Im suprised he never cracked someone's skull open the noise was sickening.
I wonder how he gets his insurance.

The sounds of that, Shrink are both hillarious and sickening at the same time LOL...I would probably crack up if I had seen it, but wonder what the heck still! I can't imagine just falling backwards.
I really wonder where they come up with ideas?

Peters shows in the early 90s were really over the top.
He even had members of the public strip completely naked and the only way back to their seats was to go into the street and into another entrance in order to get to the top balcony.
His shows were really good but worryingly went to far. I am really suprised he survived and is still performing today. The falling back was totally un necessary. He was banned in many parts of the country.
Again I wonder how he gets insurance considering no one else can over here..

It's a series, on at 10pm some nights, I'm not sure how regularly, on cable/digital.
Funny enough, I rememeber my parents telling me about a night he done a show at their local bingo place! (and they really aren't that old, weird) but anyways, apparently an abused volunteers friends took exception to how he was treated and complained during the show. They caused such a bother they were ejected from the show.

Powers sounds like a power hungry jerk to me. Its sad to hear that someone would take advantage of someone like that.

I have only caught bits of this - it does seem to be on every night @ 10pm (or 11 on Bravo+1).
Didn't really like the attitude of Peter Powers but then again it was far more entertaining than the old McKenna shows that also appear regularly on cable.
PS Looch, I doubt Bob C-G ever made it big in Michigan.

Sadly the show only airs on Bravo. Peter is also very popular in Australia and if you do a google search you should be able to dig up a number of video clips of him in action. I agree that he does push the limits of suggestion at times.
