What is the best presentation you have seen for this I can not think of a reason to do this except as a climax for sponge balls from mouth. Thanks for the help.

Lordy!
Like, it's not bad enough that dorks pull paper coils out of their mouths, now we have SIX suggesting sponge balls from the mouth! For about the jillionth time, mouth coils -- despite their name -- should NEVER be pulled from the mouth. And please, please, please don't write in saying so-and-so does it and he has a TV special or a show in Vegas! (America's most wanted criminals are on TV and hookers also work in Vegas!) Mouth coils can be concealed in the hand and pulled from a TT, a hand, the back of a shirt (the collar), and so on. But never from the mouth! Ever! Period! You can disagree -- but you'd be wrong! |

I think it would very silly to pull out a mouth coil from your mouth for kids, they WILL copy.

Mr. Marucci, I just had a brilliant idea for you in your never-ending battle to end mouth-produced Mouth Coils!
Why don't you manufacture an organic line of Mouth Coils that completely dissolve when exposed to saliva?! Or maybe even a line of Mouth Coils that are impregnated with fish oils, leaving a nasty taste in the mouth of any performer who attempts to load them there! That way, you can be sure that they are never pulled from another performers mouth ever again!! An interesting sidenote: Peter Marucci has over 4,600 posts, and approximately 982 of them pertain to Mouth Coils. :)

I hear his viewpoint, and understand it, but I don't know about "nicely said". Words like "dorks", and comparing people to criminals and hookers, are not the nicest way of suggesting to people that they should listen to you. Firmly said, yes. Nicely said, no. - Donald. P.S. Six, if you take a look around the threads on the KidAbra forum, in amongst all our fighting, I actally posted the handling for doing the "production coils" from the hand and from the mouth. You choose what works best for you.

Why not start a magical splinter group to pressurise dealers to change the way they advertise the 'coils' we could have a militant wing that showers the offending dealers with razor sharp cards! Any one interested PM me for meeting times!
Keep passing the open windows!

Peter always has a nice way with words.LOL How does he know about the hookers in vegas? Just joking PETER.
I stopped doing mouth coils after our last debate. So I started to them from the bare hand not nearly the reaction I got they way I do it from the mouth. SO I back doing the way I have been doing it for 15 years, SO YES I AM THAT DORK!! ken |

If it is not for production from the mouth then why are they called mouth coils. I've never had any so this may be a naive question. Are you supposed to conceal them and make it look like they are coming from your mouth.

Before anyone gets a mistaken impression, I am NOT here to be nice, win friends, or stroke egos. What I am trying to do is to speak the truth as I see it. Nothing more; nothing less. |

I had 3 shows back-to-back-to-back. I tried to produce the coils from my hand for the first two shows, and got a somewhat weak reaction. So I decided to go back to how I usually produce them for the third show, from the mouth, and it got a much better response. If I can find a logical, fun routine that produces the mouth coils from somewhere other than the mouth, then I will consider it. But so far, I haven't found that routine.

You pretty much dispelled that theory yourself with your first post on this thread. But I was talking about winning people to your way of thinking. That is different. Dale Carnegie said, "You will catch more flies with honey than vinegar." It's about the technique, not the message. I think you were a little rough on SIX out of the gate, especially for his age and experience. (Do you remember anything about him from his past posts? He's 15!) You could have stated the truth and influenced his thinking and actions, without using a sledge hammer. - Donald. P.S. Six, I take it from your older posts, that you have been using mouth coils for a while as a climax to your sponge ball routine, but now want to change. You recommended hat tears and mouth coils a few times on older threads, I think in part because you saw a friend use them. Tell us more about why you want to change, and what other ideas you have.

Fair enough; but I'm not here to catch flies, either! Danny Diamond writes: "An interesting sidenote: Peter Marucci has over 4,600 posts, and approximately 982 of them pertain to Mouth Coils." Actually, I think that you'll find that fewer than 30 posts pertain to mouth coils. That's a fraction of one per cent! |

Kids aren't going to copy everything they see, so quit worrying about it. Or else remove every trick with a dangerous theme, including sawing, impaling, chopping, poking, hot books, fire pans, escapes, etc from your act. Maybe you'll say "I don't do these for kids, either". OK. Fine. You stick with your magic, I'll stick with mine.
