The Banquet Room contains three forums where specific methods may be discussed. The forums are available to anyone who has made 50 or more posts, so your next post will qualify you to enter!

Sounds like you've been reading some of the other internet magic sites (name withheld to protect the guilty, err, innocent!)

What's the difference between the Banquet Room & the other forums. I made my 50 posts, clicked on the Banquet Room, got a different header but the same postings I got before.
What am I doing wrong? Aren't 50 posts enough?

Paradox: before you reached 50 posts, you should have been able to see the forum title "banquet room" but no specific titles under it. At 50 posts, 3 new topics appear that you have access too. Don't click on the "banquet room" title bar but on the subjects under it.

Aha! Thanks, Dave.
Only one problem. Nothing shows up under the banquet room title bar. Does that mean some of my 50 posts aren't "legitimate"? What's an "illegitimate" post? How do I find out?
Or maybe the tech people are overworked & just haven't gotten around to admitting me?
If so, no problem...I'll keep checking.
Thanks again

It's hardcoded into the scripts to admit you automatically when your post count reaches 50. Can you send me a screenshot of what the Banquet Room title bar looks like on your screen? Unless you have the categories collapsed, you should see three forum titles just under the Banquet Room title.

Not sure how to send you a screenshot of the Banquet Room bar. It's a green bar with a couple of black spaces (bars?) beneath it & one above it. Let me look again before sending this off...
Yes, that's it alright. One black space above it, two below.

Hmm... What you are describing is exactly what it looks like when I'm logged out. Try this: Close your browser, then delete all your Magic Cafe cookies, then log back into the Cafe. Tick the "Keep me logged in" box when you log back in.

To delete only the Magic Cafe cookies, click the Start button at the bottom of your monitor screen, go to Find, Files or Folders. In the box labeled "Containing Text" type themagiccafe.com. Click the "Browse" button, and browse to your CWindowsCookies folder. Click "OK" to put that directory path into the "Look in" box. Click "Find Now" and delete everything that comes up in the search.

I made a couple changes to your user information in the database that may or may not help. Please let me know if deleting and resetting your cookies fixes the trouble or not.

Thanks for your rapid reply. I printed out your response and then realized, upon reading your instructions, that you are assuming I have a PC. I don't; I have a Mac G3. After 35 years in engineering struggling with DOS & Windows clumsiness, I chose Mac for my personal use.
Nevertheless, I'm going to try and follow your routine & see if it converts to Mac. To start with, I don't have a Start button at the bottom of my screen. That's the high point of the problem; it goes downhill from there.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your help.

Hold everything! I think I may have my problem figured out. Your statement that the screen looks like it does when you haven't logged in gave me the clue. All this time I've been using the Café I HAVEN'T LOGGED IN!
Duh! And super Duh!
I logged in, immediately found the Banquet Room bars (& also found a buncha PMs I didn't know I had!)
No, really, I'm not blonde (--but I used to be...)
Thanks again

Please excuse the pun, that's classic Paradox! And, if you will forgive me, thanks for the laugh! I needed that today. Smile

I thought that was probably the trouble, but I was trying to be tactful! Maybe I should have been more direct. I'm glad you got it sorted out. Now I need to figure out how you've been able to post without being logged in - you shouldn't have been able to do that. When you have made a post in the past, did you have to enter your username and password each time? Smile

Mary:
Yes, that's exactly right. Each time I posted I had to enter my username & password. Now, apparently, I don't have to.

Thanks again for all your help.
