Topic: Looking for a book suggestion
Message: Posted by: Feral Chorus (Apr 21, 2005 12:54PM)
I am looking for great book ideas with the following parameters. Essentially, I am interested in a big book that is predominately non-cards and non-mentalism. Money/coins are fine but less on coins is preferred. Further, no Stars of Magic, or books authored by Ganson, Tarbell, elliott, Harris, nor one of the classic introductory texts (Wilson, Hay, Bobo, etc.)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Kaplan's The Fine Art of Magic. Contains a little bit of everything.

Maximum Entertainment if you are a performer is an excellent choice. If you are looking for a book of tricks though, avoid this one as there are no tricks in it.

Thanks corpmagi, I had forgotten about the Kaplan book.

Here's another book that looks interesting and I will do a search for information on it, but does anyone have an opinion on:

Close-Up Cavalcade Finale - Jerry Mentzer

I have every Mentzer book in my library and highly recommend them as the contents I feel are novel magic and not the same old stuff , highly recommended. Also like the Mentzer card cavalcade series, but sounds like you hate cards...

Thanks Rennie,

..."not the same old stuff" is what I am looking for.

BTW, I don't hate cards, just already have more material than I need to keep me satisfied.
