Hi guys, I have been pondering the idea of making a PB & J effect. My concern here is what would I use as a cover? I have considered coloured felt covering bristol board, I think that would be sturdy enough to hold its shape yet easy enough to create the preasure to hold the peanut butter jar. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have two ideas for you:

A)Use thick enough aluminum bent into a circle so that is can bow but not bend. Then, cover that with your felt.

B)Just cut a circular hole in the back of your tube (no matter what it is made of). That way you don't have to worry about material choice.

Use real peanut butter jars painted inside with the appropriate color and with their bottoms cut out. Find the proper size PVC pipe to cover the PB jar and cut off about 2" taller than the jar. Cut hole on the backside of the PVC. There is no real reason to have a lid on the PVC, besides then you can use the bluff transpo looking in from the top which you can't do when it is covered.

What if any are the concerns with a home made PB & J gimmick. If you have any experience please drop me (us) a line. Thanks again for all the help and recomendations.

I have never personally built one, but I do have a friend who did. He more or less made it the way that Euangelion outlined. I beleive he found thick cardboard to use for the tubes, and matched the Peanut Butter's color by taking a full jar to a paint center and asking them to match it. They matched it nearly exactly, it looked good.
