Topic: Guest of Honor

It seems to me that it would be a nice idea to let the 'Guest of Honor' bit stay on the main Café index page for several days after the guest leaves, rather than immediately replacing it with the announcement of the next guest. It would simply be more convenient for those who want to re-read some of the threads in the few days after the guest has gone.

Best,
Stephen

Stephen, the guest of honor topic is simply moved to the Chef's special by year forum right under the current announcement. Just click on 2005 and all the guest topics are there.

I know. I just thought it would be nicer and more convenient for it to occupy the "hot spot" (where the next guest is now being announced) for a little longer. Because at the moment, almost as soon as the guest goes he gets moved straight to the Chef's Special bit. I think generally speaking people are more interested in a guest that's just left than a guest that will be coming in three weeks. (For example, I'm sure that if the Osterlind guest bit still occupied the "hot spot" people would still be dipping in to read or re-read some of the threads.)

I figure it is already very convenient, one only needs to move the cursor less then an inch below the guest forum and click the current year - like magic you can now read all the topics for the last guest, in this case it's Richard Osterlind. Pretty easy says I.

By the way, in the begining we use to leave the guest forum up for a week or so, but we would constantly receive private messages, emails (and sometimes actual posts on the board) asking us why members could no longer ask the guest questions, even though it was quite clear the week was over and the topics were locked. Creating an archive by year solved that issue very nicely. Hope this helps answer any concerns Stephen, and as always, thanks for participating. :)
