Way back in the "dark ages" of the seventies, I spent many a happy hour and many many more of my hard earned dollars at what was then know as Jeffries Magicland in Dallas on Ervay. I still have several of their catalogs to this day. It was a regular haunt for me especially on the weekends, even though to this day I hate to drive in Dallas. Do any of you remeber a gentleman by the name of Russ Weaver that used to work there in the late 70's? He was a good freind of Danny Korem, and introduced me to him when a fellow performer and I rented a Chalet sub trunk from them for some shows we were doing together. Anyway, I would love to know what happened to Russ, or where I might find him today. I was saddened to find out that the shop that succeeded it has closed. A true loss to the magic community.

If you are in Fort Worth, you should be able to find out what you need to know from the folks at Magic, Etc. Be sure to ask Derek Kennedy. He is the only one there who is old enough to possibly remember Russ.

Prior to the 70s, Jefferies was Douglas Magicland. In the early 60s it was the hang out of Charlie Miller, Harry Riser,Tom Palmer etc. and in the 50s Mark Wilson, Zaney Blaney and countless others. On Saturdays we all went to the chicken restruant around the corner for lunch. They gave us the upstairs room to ourselves and the magic flew steadily for a couple of hours. Ed Watkins ran Magicland until the late 60s.
