Topic: Different types of Cane Magic

Well, I'm looking to cane magic as it is very visual, and I like the idea of walking on stage with a cane and then changing it to a silk, and then at the end of my preformance changing the silk to the can and walking off. Also, I would like other cane magic such as dancing canes, and colour changing canes. However, I'm having trouble finding a store that has most of these affects. So, can anyone recommed a site where I can find all these affects, or other good cane affects I have left out. They also need to be somewhat inexpensive but still good quality, and finally, they all need to look the same so I can switch them in the show without anyone thinking there different. I know theres a lot of conditions but I appreciate the help, thanks
Daniel
Ps, any sites with demo videos so that I can see how the effects look?

Pinto2--

Fantasio! Of course. He is in Florida, last I heard. You might check if he has a website. I am sure someone in the Café can fill you in on those details.

Anyway--

If it's cane magic, you'll want to see what he has to say. He has a great hardcover book, which is chocked full of cane and candle magic. Also a lecture taped at the Magic Castle a number of years ago, filled with great stuff. And a series of smaller booklets featuring effects and performance tips.

And these effects and tips are for the professional, working magician. Which is where Fantasio developed his material, as a professional magic performer. His ideas are tested and refined. And best of all.....very magical!

If you can't order from him directly, every magic store and website in the universe should have his products. Try eBay as well. I am sure you'll find a few dozen items for sale there.

Also, you would be wise to "type in" a search here on The Magic Café, there will be lots of cane magic discussed. Do a bit of research and you will find more
cane magic than you will ever use.

Pick what's right for you and you're on your way.

Best of Luck,

Michael

Pinto,

No need to contact Fantasio directly as his products are in 10 out of 10 decent magic shops. Do a search here at the Café for canes and you'll find much has been discussed. Here's a few that I noticed on page one alone:

Sources for cane manipulation:

I no longer use them as they don't fit my manipulation act. But I like to get involved in this topic chat as I've used and appreciate them all. Before going forward with canes, make sure it fits the character and act. I sort of miss using the canes but there simply is no good reason for my character to have one. So before you end up with a drawer full of vanishing, color-changing, cane to bouquet, appearing, and dancing canes, design the act from start to finish. Once you've designed the act, if there is a justifiable reason to have a cane then go for it!

Thanks for all the help guys, and since I live 20 minutes away from morrissey magic, I'm sure their have a good selection. I'll be sure to routine the canes into my act and look forward to Christmass!!
