Sorry to be lame and ask about another CA effect but this one is killing me. The spectator grabs a chunk of cards and CA tells which ones the spectator. is lookin at. Back is turned and all that... He goes through like ten cards. Anything published anywhere.

Care to elaborate a bit more?
Message: Posted by: Xiqual (Feb 25, 2006 12:57AM)
Ok, Anneman's practical mental magic.
Buy the book from Amazon, read the whole thing and you will know how to do the effect.

I believe that routine was Card Calling using Osterlind's Breakthrough Card System. Pick up the ebook, it's fifteen dollars and there's nothing but gold.

Cheers,

Definitely `Calling the Cards`by Osterlind!

Yes, the effect that you saw Criss Angel performing is, without a doubt, Osterlind's "Card Calling" routine using the Breakthrough Card System. If you are not familiar with this system and are serious about mentalism, get familiar with it now! There are so many ways to use this system and the results, if used correctly, are absolutely mind boggling. Buy it, learn it, love it and live it. You will not be let down.

I second that - I just bought the e-book and it rocks!

I third it. Did that make sense.

James:
Dan Tong was in the middle and he made it entertaining. :)

Aditionally, I saw Dan do most of the bits that were on the Angel show, years ago.

I don't know how Osterlind's one works. But it looks like it's very similar to the mind deck by John Kennedy.
Am I wrong?
Message: Posted by: Waters (Feb 25, 2006 08:30PM)
No it isn't like Mind Power Deck! It is much more versatile and it is ungimmicked (You really can't compare the two).

Check out BCS... It is the best bargain in mentalism, and is nearly limitless in application. Trust me you will love it.

Best Wishes,
Sean

I don't know about origin or anything like that but I do have Osterlinds second series and the EXACT effect is in there as well as the E-book. Just a heads up you will need to learn his BCS.

There ya have it.

A history lesson and an effect. What more could you ask for?

Thanks to all!

Performers were doing this long before Osterlind.
Dunninger did it, as did Koran, Beglas, Canasta and others.

Oh yeah - it could also have been a stooge.

Criss Angel IS notorious for using more stooges than most... but in this case I am pretty sure as previously mentioned that it is Osterlinds BCS.

Try looking here:

Published in 1898, I guess what is old is new again.

Themartyr

This thread is a perfect example, why we miss the search function so much.

Annemann's "practical mental effects" and Corinda's "13 steps to mentalism" are THE reference books if one wants to start in the field. And there are hundreds (and I mean 100s) of posts about these books.

The same goes for Richard Osterlind's Breakthrough Card System.

Why BCS? Why not just any memdeck? Never saw the performance so I never saw the cards in question...

either method.

We know it was BCS because of the cards he called out. I was calling them out along with the TV set. It was Osterlind. No hypothesizing about it. It was the BCS, card for card.

I remember seeing this, but I would like to see it again. What episode was it on? Was it in the hellstromism one?
