Topic: Just made my first wand!
Message: Posted by: billfromoregon (Aug 17, 2006 06:06AM)
I just made my first magic wand today, and it turned out fantastic! I made it out of purpleheart, with ebony ends, and tagua nut (vegetable ivory, which looks amazingly like the real thing)/ebony/tagua nut bands between the purpleheart and ebony ends. I spent approximately 4-5 hours on it, including building a jig to bring it to final size after turning it on the lathe. I will see if I can upload some pictures tomorrow. Cheers -

That's a great looking wand Bill. It should give you years of enjoyment and use.

And best of all...you made it. :)

Great job! Wands are not as easy as some may think they are to make. Again, you did a fantastic job on it from the picture.

For me there is something uniquely satisfying about using one of my own creations while performing. The audience may never know, but it sure gives you a warm fuzzy...

Reminds me that I have neglected my wand work horribly. There is no greater icon of our work, and having a nice one, which this clearly is, realy says something about you. Kudos

Bill, despite what all the naysayers are say.... hold on.... no, no, you're sure....Bill, I'm being told there are no naysayers, hard to believe but that seems to be the case. Must be the great, great job you did. Looks super, enjoy.
