Is there anywhere I can see how a deck shell works before I spend the money? There are no local magic shops for me to go to.

Have you seen what one looks like?

You should be able to figure it out from the picture.

Budsie & John...if I may add:

If you buy a deck shell, make sure you get the DVD that teaches how to use it!

I really am grateful I found that. My deck shell sat in a drawer for a year, before I got the DVD...an absolute MUST-HAVE.

The extra $20 will be worth it, believe me.

Are there any books that have good routines with a deck shell switch?

I completely agree Doug. The jacket move on the video is what really makes the shell worthwhile.

Can the Deck Shell be used standing up without a table? I do a lot of walk-around at banquets, and I try to never use other people's table space.

I have a Chazpro deck shell which is made of metal. It is both very noisy (sounding like metal being used) and too shallow to hold all 52 cards. I can ditch a few cards, but any ideas how to quiet the thing down?
