I was woundering if anyone here would like to contribute some inspirational quotes for people just starting out as performers. These quotes can be anything that has driven you to becoming the best you can be. They can be uplifting or a simply truth. Id love to get as manny as possible.

Here are two I like.

If I want diamonds I cant settle for coal-fatboy slim

No one can do this for me exept me.-somewhere.

The second quote I often think abot when working on a new stunt and I want to give up. I just remeber that I'm the only one who will get me on the stage, no one else.

So anything from anyone would be great. Thanks.

Since a magician creates artifice and tries to make it seem natural, then I leave you with Kurt Vonnegut Jr. "We are who we pretend to be, so we must be careful who we pretend to be.”

And since patience is important to a magician: "Give a man a fire and you'll keep him warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life." (heard on Prairie Home Companion.) Some magic practitioners want to accomplish everything on day one, and that's like setting yourself on fire to keep warm....

to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference." -----Reinhold Niebuhr?

"It is human nature to want to believe in the wizardry of the magician--but also to turn against him and scorn him the moment that he commits the slightest error that reveals his trickery. Those in the audience are embarrassed to have been so easily astonished, and they blame the performer for their gullibility."

Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas.

Fortune favors the brave. - P. Terence

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.

If you love someone set them free; if they come back, set them on fire.

Hi there,

I have loads:

"Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will." - Jawaharal Nehru

"If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough." - Mario Andretti

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." - Albert Einstein

"Dreams don't work unless you do." - Peter Daniels

"The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it." - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." – Confucius

"You are only what you are when no one is looking." - Robert C. Edwards

"Who you are is a necessary step to being who you will be." – Emmanuel

"A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart." - Jonathan Swift

"Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact." - William James

"Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act." - George W. Crane

"A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every passerby leaves a mark." - Chinese proverb

"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good." - Samuel Johnson

"Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it." - Robert Heinlein

"Learning is like rowing upstream: not to advance is to drop back." - Chinese Saying

"Never look down on anybody unless you're helping him up." - Jesse Jackson

"Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to get out of." - Anon.

"My life is my message." - Mahatma Gandhi

Most of these may not seem directly relevant, but they all have some meaning to us in the magic world.

I'm surprised how many there are, and I didn't even put in any Biblical quotes!

Anyway, hope this helps! BTW I got all these from a great quotes site - http://www.homepage.desktop-quotes.com/uk.php - just keep refreshing for more great thought-provoking quotes!

Many thanks
