Topic: Need a bed at CAM
Message: Posted by: Josh Chaikin (Feb 20, 2007 08:48PM)
I have a similar thread posted in the "So Happy Together" section, but it was suggested to me that I post here as well, since it might garner more attention.

As the title states, I'm looking to share a room with someone at CAM this summer, I'll be more than willing to pay half the cost of the room. It's just that after almost $500 in airfare, I'll be looking to cut expenses as much as I can.

If anyone is interested, please PM me.

Thanks,

Josh

Okay, I'll settle for a pillow, blanket and a 6"x3" area on the floor. ;)

It's still a long way off, Josh. "Be patient, Grasshopper."

If you haven't booked a room by now, you should. Apparently the conference hotel's block of CAM rooms is getting near sold out (or so I was told).

Incidentally, there is another hotel, the Walper Terrace, just down the street. Last time I met some CAM attendees who were staying there. They were paying less, for a nicer room, and their room came with breakfast in very nice dining room (better than what is available at the conference hotel). The problem is, I'm told the rooms at the Walper are hit or miss. Some are great, some are crap.

The rooms at the conference hotel are nothing to write home about either (although at least some have been upgraded in the last couple of years). Fortunately, there are enough activities that you won't spend much time in your room.

There's agood chance I might have space available.

The wife isn't coming this year, but I've asked one person already.

If they're not coming this year as well.. I'll post again.

David.

Last I remember, I didn't sleep while at CAM. Good times!

Well, I didn't really sleep at the last convention I attended either, I still need a place to stow my suitcase and shower though ;)

Hey, If I don't find a roomate, you can use the shower facilities...

Like the showers near the hotel pool? It's a thought. Just hope there's a couch in the lobby should it come to that. ;)

Josh,
You know I'm looking forward to meeting you, so please don't take this the wrong way, but conventioneers sleeping on the couch would NOT bode well for the convention organizers and would not give the hotel or its other guests a positive impression.

Hmm, I don't suppose it would. I've just seen it done at other conventions is all, something will come along, I'm sure.

Worst comes to worst and you can't get a room, just rent a car. :)

I remember reading somewhere that they were all booked, but a second hotel down the road had rooms and would be giving a convention rate.

This is from the convention's Web site.

Booking a room?
The Host Hotel Delta is fully booked, so try one of these if you haven't already booked a room:

Comfort Inn - 1-519-894-3500 We have a block of rooms at $99.00/night-
which includes breakfast...
Holiday Inn - 1-519-893-1211
Radisson - 1-519-894-9500

Ask for CAM Convention Rates when booking.

ALRIGHT- ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ME:

So I've been super excited about convention as its my first time going. Unfortunately it seems my roomates (possibly all?!) have backed out. Yes I have had a room booked for the last 3 months and I know it's fully booked now. Now My question is,

is there ppl here that still need a room that are willing to pay thier share and get their part of the room. ie bed n all.

plz pm me

OR if you have space for one person, I wont mind canceling my room and joining anothher. I just need a place to keep my stuff n sleep a bit. If I get a few pm's we can get a room going.

Durgy,
In order to get the most possible attention, I suggest starting a new thread, with a title something like "Room To Share At CAM Hotel".
See you there!
