I'm going to get the million dollar knot soon so that I can make my own loops. many of the reviews on the site say that the thread that it comes with isn't that great. what's a better thread I can use??

Yes, Infinity and Silkworm seem to be the most popular right now. My personal preference is Infinity which I think is, without question, the best thread, but you'll find strong support for both.
