Topic: Smoke from fingers
Message: Posted by: docsteve (Sep 26, 2007 04:38PM)
I'm having trouble storing & accessing the paste one uses to get smoke from rubbing fingers - you know, the stuff you get from burning the strips from m*********.
I need to get some on fingers, from a pocket or prop already out on a table. If I put in on folded card, it hangs around OK, but still some spreads/gets absorbed and the yield aint so good.
Anyone else use this regularly?
How do you store it? How do you load it?

Thanks in anticipation

Hey Steve,

Altoids puts out a strip that comes in a very small metal tin that slides open. I either keep it in my pocket or attatch it under the lip of the table where I'm working. I do the preparation directly in the tin and it stays contained until I slide the lid up and load. Very easy, very simple, as Chef Tell used to say.

Also, look for this product called Little Smoke. It'll cut your prep time down significantly.

Brilliant advice Mark -thanks!
I'm using "Magic Smoke" - sounds v similar, and 'preparing' it in the tin is a good idea; currently I'm changing the smoke-alarm batteries in the kitchen ;-)
Thanks again
