Topic: Rose manipulation? Wand manipulation sources?
Message: Posted by: haywire (May 8, 2008 01:57AM)
I'm working on some stuff with single rose productions/vanishes/color changes whatever with a silk.

Can anyone give me some sources on video or books for single flower manipulation, or
I'm sure a lot of moves for wand manipulation would probably work also, so if you
know sources for that, please do share.

Any sources would be greatly appreciated. Videos or print...?

Flip DVD #4
shoot ogawa wand routine

jimmy talksalot will be coming out with something soon as well.

this is all on wand "stuff". Not sure if much of it would work with a flower but some ideas surely would.

Where can I buy this FLIP dvd?

And does anyone has any other sources for stuff like wand manipulation, or single rose productions? I was suprised to find so little when I looked around on magic with roses, looks like one dvd - Rose magic by Monty is about all I found. that's a good dvd, but I wanted to find some more stuff on magic with single roses.

Dvds or books with wand manipulation would certainly work for these types of things as well I think, but I also found very little on that subject when searching.

It's available on my website. it's cheapest on the "on sale" page.
it's there specifically because it's a great DVD.

You may also get it through Denny Haney as I know he carries the full volume set. he would also be the guy to ask for other references and sources.

Thanks Frank, I'll order one from your site this week.

Kyle, you are always welcome to come by and show me some stuff with wands. A lot of the flip stick stuff you did in that one stage routine I saw you do at sam would probably work nicely for what I'm working on. Looked good with you doing it, hopefully it will work equally well with roses.

Currently, I am buggering around with what I have/know now.
Its coming together, but gets repetitive after awhile, I have to come up with some other stuff to put between the productions, or add some things. Basically the routine is producing a dozen roses one at a time, but with a rose split and some other stuff tossed in.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steven,

I would be happy to go over stuff with you at SAM or try and find a time to meet up with you. I have moved for flip stick and I also have moves with roses that I used to do in my old acts. I would be happy to go over some of those ideas, moves and concepts with you. My pleasure.

I also may have some creative ideas for you to mix up the productions. I use to do a split rose and a triple rose production. I also used to do a candle to rose that was pretty fluid and nice.

There is a rose video around by "Monty". Not too sure of the name of it, although I think it's called "Rose Magic." Might be worth taking a look at.

Rob is right as I have that video. it covers off on some nice ideas. Although mist use real roses, the ideas and concepts can be applied and adapted to feathered flowers or even to fake roses etc.

I had the same problem, I mean finding a source for rose manipulation. But I saw Monty's Dvd called "Rose Magic". I think there are wonderful materials for a manipulator.

Check that out.

Yes I mentioned the monty dvd, which I do have, but that is the only source I found on magic with roses... There appears to be little else on the market as far as books or dvds.

Keiko Muto has 2 DVDs on rose manipulations. She also sells nice flowers and shells for manipulations. I think that she sold DVDs and flowers thru Secret Garden shop.
I lost her web address but this link might be of some help http://www.magicmania.at/eng_haendler.php

I've been messing around with doing a candle and silk routine with regular old wax candles for a couple of weeks. all you need is the flipstick move and your sleeve to do a whole routine. the key is to simply play with your moves in the mirror and find gestures or moves that come naturally to you while facilitating a flipstick vanish or production.
this may not answer your question, but it is good advice.

You might want to try "Endless Rose." http://www.magic-anywhere.com/rose.htm

I think Paul Gertner has a flipstick routine written up. If I'm correct, I saw him perform it on Mr Rogers Neighborhood many years ago. Wish I could be more help.
