Ax,

Just so old guys like me (hah !) understand, we are to send you the video submissions as email attachments, but we register the hardcopy paperwork by fax or snail mail, correct ? Sorry to sound so stupid, but I have never entered one of your contests before, so I want to make sure I follow the rules correctly!

Mark.... no problem.

No you don't send us the video by email you convert it to flash by uploading it to a site (Youtube is the best)... There is a download section on the page with the Rules document, and the application. In the rules it tells you....

Format: All video submissions must be converted to Flash video by you. An easy way to do this is to upload your video clip to something like: Youtube or GoogleVideo. You will have to follow their directions, they have a lot of help; we do not offer any technical support, but they do! If you don't have video ability or technical computer skills, find a friend who does and split the winnings! Axtell will embed or download your flash video clip once converted.

Email Greg Jackson, Axtell Studio Manager when your video clip is converted and ready to submit. He will need you to send him a link to the embeded code of the video (copy and paste the Youtube code in the email) so he can access your movie. Greg's email is here. gjackson@axtell.com

OK, I got it now. I actually read all that in the rules, but it just didn't click. So the video will be up on Youtube or GoogleVideo for all to see, and not just for your judges eyes alone.

Thanks ! Sorry I didn't grok it the first time...

(doh!!!)

Do you think we should extend the deadline longer than Nov 15?

Ax
Message: Posted by: Ony Carcamo (Nov 4, 2008 11:05PM)
That's a great idea, Steve!
Message: Posted by: Wanlu (Nov 5, 2008 07:13AM)
I think so too...since the first run was a great success and that every possible idea has been used...maybe it would help if the deadline is extended so we can brainstorm a little bit more :)

Thanks for your thoughts....we'll have a decision soon and will announce it at http://www.axtell.com/puppetvid.html

Now that the videos are up, what are people's favorites? There are some bizarre ones out there. Some people are really quite original.

Favorites under the puppet division :

I LOVED Steve Petruzzella's Puppet Abuse video ! It was hilarious, very professionally done, and wins the prize for the most Axtell products seen in 120 seconds (other than when you might go to Steve's business).

Talk about product placement.

:rotf:

As for the kids, Austin's entries rocked ! Well on his way to being a pro...

:D

All of Steve's videos on Youtube are top shelf. I'll pass along the kind words onto Austin...

Thanks Mark...

Well I'll second the comments on Steve's videos. He is a real pro, and one of the best I have seen at creating good quality material on any given topic.

Other videos I like are: Travis Hill's 'Tortoise vs Hare', and Colin Dymond's 'Alfie's Alphabet'.

'My Adopted Bird' is also quite touching.

Ony's entry is touching and very well made... :)

Steve Petruzzella is without a doubt very talented...I love his videos too. :)

I think he's a genius... :)

Thanks, Wanlu. I did everything under one hour, hehe

I just made a simple tribute to the OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers), who we call here our "modern heroes" because of what their doing for the local economy--and, of course, for their families. My late father used to be an OFW.

I enjoyed lots of great entries!

Wanlu ... I laughed out loud when that bird popped his head out of the turtle! My staff does stuff like that to me all the time when they are building puppets. Funny Stuff. Congrats to all! Ken ...Austin will be excited with his win!

Get ready for 2009. We're going to do it earlier next year. Probably in April or May.

Thanks Steve for running the contest again. I called Austin late last night (eastern time zone) because I'm still in the LA area. He was very excited. He said he didn't sleep much last night. He was dreaming about axtell puppets. ( And who doesn't?) He's looking forward to making the difficult decision of which puppet to order. (I think he's leaning toward the toucan)

We'll talk soon...

Thanks again....

I'd like to say congrats to the winners. They certainly deserved the honor. And also a big congratulations to Steve. He's created a great promotional tool that showcases his clients and gives them another reason to excel.
Message: Posted by: axtell (Dec 21, 2008 11:29PM)
Thanks Tom. It's really neat to see kids that were 6 last year and now participating again as 7.... we'll watch them grow up on the contest videos. Everyone that was in the contest last year has improved.... imagine in 5 years how all the participants will be tightening their presentations and learning from the professional judges choices. I really hope that those that did not win will aspire to improve and not loose hope. The scores were very close in some cases and it doesn't mean anything bad by not winning. What's really cool is to see some ask us for feedback and to see their scores. Very few actually do..... it takes guts and is the mark of a pro to seek critique and improve from it. Ax

Hey Steve,

I didn't know about the option of seeing the scores. Let me get back to you on that...
