So I have quite the problem. I have contacted just about every Custom Neon shop on the Left Coast, and am running into all kinds of issues. I am looking for a 48" piece of 8mm neon. The issue I am having is one finding someone who is local or distant and will ship, but more critical is the fact that anyone who will do the job says they cant bend the neon so that the gap is any smaller than the tube width. I have a piece of neon bent this way and it is too wide. I know that it is possible as I have seen several pieces bent with no gap in the middle. If anyone has any insight please PM me.

Martin, it helps to NOT tell them what the intended use is.... lots of folks worry about liability. I'll check with my companies sign people for ya!

Thanks Nipps, yeah I learned that early in the process. Most companies I contact I say that it is a replacement piece and is very specific otherwise it will not "fit".

As a side note I believe Congrats are in order yes? Hope all went well.

I'm no exactly sure what your use will be although I think I have a good idea... Do you think you could use an LED alternative? I just went to LDI its a huge entertainment lighting convention in Las Vegas and I have all kinds of information on LEDs. If this is something you are interested in PM me and I will help in anyway I can.

Ah LDI, why is it I can never get any of the companies I work for to send me to Vegas. Thanks Wizard, I will keep that in mind as an option.

Funny you should say it that way, my company sent me to research a new lighting system for the show.

My wife's uncle (uncle in law?) bends neon as a hobby, he has a full shop in his garage. I know he has been busy with work but I'll see if he is interested.

Also I get some custom work done at Graham's Neon in Mesa, AZ. If you want to try them I would call Brian Barela at 480-962-6366. They just made this Monster M for me I used it in the Monster Magic contest for http://www.streetofcards.tv

Wow, that's great. Thank you.

Yeah I was hoping with the new ETC consoles coming out and us looking to upgrade both of our consoles, I would get to go and maybe take some of the classes as well, but by the time you get there, get a room, get a floor pass, and then classes. Its a whole lot of money.

Hi Martin ,not sure if this idea helps as Im not sure of intended purpose but will take a stab judging by your picture. Have you considered utilising a persbex rod backed with mirror maylar ,lit with an LED and a mirror cap at the end to reflect the light? This may make no sense to the question asked ,but hope it may help or inspire an idea somewhere to a reader of this post ,
Sincere Regards Mark

With all the new shatter-resistant acrylics and the new lighting technologies, I am surprised nobody has crafted a much safer version of neon tube swallowing (yes, I know the intent, and the risks).
