Topic: Crystal Clear Cups & Balls

Is there a cups & balls routine that uses clear cups? I seem to remember seeing this on the Café before, but I can't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are several. There is Jason Latimer's, which has not been published. There is a published one available from Micky Hades, as well.

My Crystal Clear Cups and Balls, from The Wizards' Journal #8 makes use of transparent colored Kiddie cups that have an interesting deceptive optical property. They are available in most supermarkets in the USA.

Credit for first devising a method for doing the Cups and Balls trick with transparent cups goes to Ronald J. Dayton (Transparent Chop Cup) and Jeffrey L. Campbell. Their work is described in the book "Jeffrey L. Campbell's Crystal Cups," published by Micky Hades (1983).

There is also the George Blake routine and the one on VHS I did in Magic from France (Greater Magic Video Series by Joe Stevens) which involves a regular cup, a cristal clear (regular) glass and balls of three different colors

It all goes back to Al Goshman, doesn't it?

No George Blake pre dates Al Goshman and, to my knowledge, Albert didn't have a C&Bs routine or even a C&Bs move with a crystal clear glass, but only a (very smart) coin under glass move.
Albert's phenomenal salt shakers routine could be considered as a C&Bs routine in the sense of Scott's discovery of witchcraft, but they cannot be classified as "crystal clear" C&Bs.

I could care less what Penn & Teller are doing!

Same here. They are the lowest of the low on my list, not because of the cups routine, tho....

But if you had put together a clear cups routine prior to the P & T expose', that would definitely be one reason!

I found a source to learn this routine and Ive already ordered it. Its only a matter of time before I get it

If there is a source for ordering this exact routine, other than Jason Latimer, himself, it is without his authorization.

Which routine are you talking about?

If it's Jason's, Bill's statement is spot on.

That's unfortunate...they're very interested in keeping current on you.

Yah, sure.

Any idea on when Latimer's routine will be released? It's such a great piece.

Antonio Romero from Spain has a nice routine, very different, that uses clear glasses, with one being covered by newspaper. He has a dvd, with explanation in English by Rafael Benatar. I know there's a clip of this routine, if anyone is
interested I can try to find it.

Hopefully never! Too unique to become commonplace.

I spoke with Jason at the Magic Circle Centenary, and he said that he did not have any plans to release the routine in the foreseeable future. I believe part of this is because the routine is not completely set. Each time he performs it there are some changes.
