Topic: Where to buy a quality dollar size chinese coin.
Message: Posted by: TWOCAN (Jun 18, 2009 07:00PM)
I am looking for a chinese coin that rates high in quality. Can anyone direct me to a dealer. I am not looking for a shell set or any gaff type coin. Just a great looking coin..

Even though the thread says Half Dollar sized, I include dollar sizes too.

Here's a few links:

Lassen has nice coins that he calls Chinese Enjoyment coins. He has them toned or natural.

I messaged Lassen about some Chinese coins. I haven't received a reply yet. Aren't the ones on his site gaffed, or are those normal?

4 normal chinese coins with an unexpanded shell

There's a set for sale on his blog right now.

The problem with this set, though... is it's a gaff set. TWOCAN wants an ungaffed coin.

I found this ebay seller that sells chinese coins and tells you the MM size. So if you're looking for Dollar Sized ones, you'll want to look for ones that are 37-39 mm in size. For halves, look for 29-31 mm size.

Lassen sells the Chinese Miracle Enjoyment coins as single ungaffed coins in Copper or Brass. you do not need to buy them with any kind of gaff if you don't want to.

Johnson Products now sells Hong Kong Coins ....they match the half dollar coins they have been selling for years.

I have personally tried emailing Lassen a couple times regarding getting some ungaffed chinese coins. I haven't received a response and it's been a couple weeks.

From what I understand it pretty much useless to send lassen an email ... you have a better chance getting an answer if you give him a call.

The lassen coins are nice, but be warned they are very thick and heavy
