I need to replace the band on my pencil through coin but have spent hours trying unsuccessfully. Does anyone have any instructions or tips on this?

The gap around the rim of the coin where the band sits is extremely narrow.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that this is a Gibson pencil through £1 coin.
