The pilgrims almost perished in their attempt a communal lifestyle. It was only after they established privet ownership of their land and the free enterprise system did they have their first Thanksgiving. It is a shame Americans have not been taught this in school.

In Australia, there's a public holiday called Australia Day. It's a day wherein the citizens celebrate their heritage and give thanks for being Australian.

The Aborigines call it Invasion Day . . . True story.
