I was thinking about putting together a cd That I can listen to while twisting. Anyone know of any good music to twist to .... ie. The twist. Any others that fit the theme while twisting?
PS... I realize that there are copyright laws so lets assume I will be listening to this while at home by myself in the comfort of the living room

Been round and round with the legal music thing.

It seems that if it is a private performance you my play any music. For paid or paying audience the magic number is over 100 people.

I have a playlist on my ipod a play with music that reminds me of my sculptures. Also when twisting for a group I don't let them choose I make what I think is cool and have them smile big to "win" the sculpture.

I have seen Mark do this.. I keep telling myself to do the same dang thing whip out the Ipod and play a song that goes with each thing I make.. Find someone playong a jazzing version of Sponge Bob.. then make Sponge Bob... Find a more classical version of the spidey theme song on Itunes and play it while making Spiderman... People see my best stuff and kids don't slow me down while I am waiting for them to change there mind a million times... I loved seeing Mark do this!

I've been doing this forever. One nice trick is to use more abstract music where they can't tell what you're making then as the sculpture comes together the music changes to something that is pretty clear so that they can figure it out. There is a nice "Ah hah" moment.

An example of the music I use while I'm making a Superman Hat is "Holding out for a Hero", then "Superman (it's not easy)" then "Kryptonite" and end with the Superman Theme. I know this sounds like it takes too long but that is part of the beauty of it. I use this kind of thing to build a crowd for a circle show on the street and at festivals. Folks stop just to see what the heck you are doing. By the time I've finished the sculpture I have the crowd I need for the rest of the show. Give it a whirl, you'll be surprised at just how well it works.
