Topic: Magic Makers Gaff in Standard Bicycle Deck? |
|
||
I've bought three boxes of Bicycle Decks about two or three months ago. I opened and used one, until this afternoon. As it's dirty and a bit sticky, I decided to open another new deck. Both are the new design box. But in the newest one, I get a card with Magic Makers explanation about the gaff card and a red/blue DB card. Is this the new batch? Since my last deck didn't have anything except one full deck and two advertisement cards of Bicycle. They should put random gaff cards in each box. So, we could get DB, DF, Double Blank, BF, BB, etc. It's just a nice add-on that might might come handy for some of us. |

I like this idea of random gaff's. But as it has no commercial advantage, it will not happen... Rgds Serge |

I guess it does, because they put another card with Magic Makers logo and an URL to their website for those who want to learn the routine using the provided gaff card. I know because mine has an URL to a "Color Change" routine even I haven't checked it out because I have the DVD with Rudy Hunter. For those who already knew about the routine, they might not hit the web page. For those who are new, they might. There's a downside to this anyway, it's sold to public. Imagine some teenager looking to buy a deck for playing Poker, then a double back slides out from the deck. Is this exposure? |

It is exposure, AND many people could get "stiffed." :P |

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more uncomfortable it feels. Imagine that there are people now looking at the gaff card or accessing Magic Maker's webpage just to learn about some methods freely. We've got enough exposure in Youtube. |

OTOH the reason they are doing it, Im sure, is to try to grow their market of magicians for gaffed cards. And that's not all together bad. |
|
||
The "what" isn't bad but the "who is" is questionable at best IMHO. |

I had a gaff card (double backer red/blue) in a deck I bought from a magic shop. I was assuming that they were only put into batches sold to magic shops but I am obviously wrong. Here in the UK, you can only seem to buy Bikes at magic shops or Costco, they are not a household brand here. |

Same as here, Bicycle is only sold at magic shop. That's the good side. The bad side is, it has a remark of being a magic cards. So everytime they see us taking out a deck of Bikes, the first thing they're ever gonna say is: "I know that card, it's a magician's card" D'oh! Even doing something impromptu or ungaffed, they still believe it's a magician's deck, until I let them to check the whole deck and each card in it. |

Are you sure it wasn't from a batch meant for magic shopa and sold to Costco by mistake? |

Are you asking me, Kuma? Or are you asking Lord Freddie? I bought mine from a magic shop as only magicians (most of the time) use Bicycle. But in other countries such as the U.S. or U.K., these cards might be sold openly to the public in some big chain-stores. |
