Topic: My method for silk in balloon
Message: Posted by: magicians (Sep 24, 2010 06:29AM)
Everything is the same setup as in the standard silk in balloon. The penetration, however, is visible and without cover. I include the method in my coin balloonacy dvd and in my lecture,
I really forget how other people perform this.
Would like comments on this short clip.

By the way, no pulls, threads, topits, holdouts, elastics, and no sleeve work etc.

Looks good, but how do you get into it? Can you pick up the silk and balloon? Or do you have to walk out on stage holding them?

The standard silk in balloon has the balloon sitting on a cup or pedestal which enables you to pick up the balloon at any time. I can also have an assistant bring me the balloon and he/she does a hand-off move.
My preference is to come on as an opener, but I can also reach behind a table.
The purpose of the clip was not that part of it. The reason for the clip was my dissatisfaction with those who do the effect by vanishing a silk first, the have the silk appear by shaking the balloon.
The simultaneous action lends the effect to be more believable.

I've usually performed this with the the balloon resting on a container; your handling is much more believable; and it's quite fun to play with what the next step after your befuddled reaction to the silk trapped in the balloon will be.
Do you have lecture notes available?

I really like your handling, Magic Ian. It makes things smoother and simply more visual.

I will have to place an order for your DVD.

I can attest that even when done for magicians this is a killer.

At the Lecture in Knoxville, TN Ian had to do this three times.
